Where do your knives live?

I put users in a micrometer box on my toolbox next to my bedroom door. Sheaths and their knives are piled on spare bandanas next to it. I also have some tees and my divot repair tool (I carry those everyday at work caddying) in the box. A smaller micrometer box holds my nice pens and pencils so they don't get beat up.

I have recently started collecting and was gifted this Pelican 1300 to keep everything organized and clean. I hope to fill the rest of it soon enough.

No need to cringe, they all get their love.

Okay, mine get thrown into drawers, but the pricier ones go back in their boxes and the drawers are never so full that knives are crammed against each other.

That picture does not portray love.

Uoops, forgot to mention the Multitools and SAKs, they live in a big old wine bottle wood box...

and the big, ethnic, traditional blades all go in a bucket...

Until they're used, new knives stay in the original packaging and usually are on a book shelf in my office for the first 6 months of ownership. After than, if I haven't used them, they go into storage which for me are plastic "Really Useful" boxes. The really old unloved ones go into a rubber maid tub. The rubber maid tubs contain knives I have little intention of ever using although I sometimes dig them out to handle them to see if my preferences have changed.

Whatever I plan to carry the next day goes in a leather valet tray along with all the sundry EDC stuff. The handful of knives I regularly rotate go in an old felt lined cigar box on the dresser so I can easily grab and go. All the rest go in Sack Ups knife rolls in the closet. Not particularly elegant but it works for me.
