Where does knife collecting rank with your other hobbies?

Bushcraft/camping/woodcraft, knives, knife repair, knife literature, drawing, comics, guns, hunting, target shooting, reading, baseball cap collecting, collecting die cast cars.

Yeah I pi$$ my $ up against the wall as my father would say.

For me it is hard to rank my interests or hobbies, they are all rather fluid and change with my mood. Mine range from the typical knives, guns and flashlights to fountain pen and photography to video games. There is of course outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, backpacking, climbing and cycling (road cycling and dirk bikes) which I am very passionate about. Some days I read exclusively about knives, other I may peruse FPN and the like. Oh and I absolutely love wine and coffee as well, to be fair I only subscribe to a few magazines and one of which is a wine magazine so that ranks fairly high frequently. As you can see, I have trouble narrowing my fields of interest down.

I'm certainly quite a bit more active with my knife hobby online than with the other things I love doing, but the other things mostly involve being outdoors. Sea kayaking would absolutely be my #1 passion, with mountain biking, fitness, karate, skiing and hiking/climbing all competing for time as well. I'm a gear junkie and knives are a pretty small part of those hobbies, but knives are probably the piece of kit that moves from activity to activity more than anything else, as I always have one with me.

My hobbies/collections in order of importance

1. Guns
2. Women
3. Knives
4. Used celebrity contraceptives
5. Hot Wheels Cars
6. Guitar(s)
7. Smoking Crack

Facking double post. Well, I guess I'll make it useful.

Shoes, knives and guns are the real collections for me, hot wheels cars too, but those are now going to my nephew (11 months old)

I use my gold prospecting hobby to pay for my knife collecting hobby, but of course I have the bass boat fever occasionally along with guns. Soon to add archery and rock climbing. The snowboard sat idle all this winter because of my gold prospecting . Too many hobbys!

I have two hobbies - Reading and collecting knives (started recently) and mountain biking, they are both equally important for me.

It depends on the week but I'm trying to make Knives my #1 if for no other reason that it isn't as expensive as guns. When deer season rolls around my attention inevitably turns to guns and archery though.

It will always be this until I get too old to do it anymore.

After Sportbikes (riding 49 years now) it's knives. Was watches until I found my Suunto Military Black, then that stopped. Wish I found it first.

Was flashlights until I found my Surefire E2D Defender Ultra, then that stopped. 500 Lumens, highly recommended.

But knives for the last two, and as I've carried one since high school in the '70s (yes, you could carry one no problem back then) I'm hooked. I'm on this forum multiple times a day.

My first knife (just found a LNIB from the '90s last month) that was carried daily for six years...

And my latest, bought two...

And this one on the way...someday!

According to the money I spend, it would be knives...and that's about it. If I had anything else left, it would be spent on beer, flashlights, watches, going to punk rock shows, guns, salt water aquarium, etc. Other hobbies I participate in include mountain biking, knife making, leather holster making and paracording (if that's a hobby)

Hi all,

Well.....Knives/Axes/Hatchets/Tomahawks/Machetes/Meat Cleavers etc. are my current NO. 1 obsession for about the last year. I have had an interest in Knives for many years however. My newest obsession displaced my former obsession/hobby (too expensive) of collecting vintage (mostly & especially) Tube Audio gear and vintage Horn Speaker. Here is my pride and joy : http://i39.tinypic.com/fjjhus.jpg a rare (Circa 1950's Charles Eames designed) STEPHENS TRU-SONIC Horn Speaker (Custom E-3 type) made in Culver City, California. http://jelabs.blogspot.com/2011/06/architects-music-and-hi-fi.html
It has a 15" Woofer, ten cell Mid-range horn and eight cell Tweeter horn and weights in at 175 lbs. and is a work of art! It is very efficient and it sounds OUTSTANDING (especially on Classic Jazz). It requires only a modest power MONO Tube Amp (I use a 13 Watts Pilot) which can play to volumes MUCH louder than I ever care to listen. I am a very lucky man to own such a rare piece of Audio history. My other interests/hobbies include.....18th. Century Living History, Firearms (especially 1911's), Archery/Deer hunting, collecting (and drinking) Scotch Whisky and Irish Whiskey, Photography, Music, Niche Colognes, Martial Arts/Combat Arts, Animals, World events/Politics, Sushi, Cooking, Puns/Jokes and Singing (being a Vocalist and former SAG Actor).

Regards,
HARDBALL

Hmm...reading, knives, guns, and fountain pens in that order...used to be that collecting guitars was right after reading :o

It kinda is a tie between powerlifting, knives, and tattoos. Powerlifting was/ is still more of a lifestyle and addiction where knives and ink are a fun hobby when money is available. I'll be super obsessed with one for a while then I flip flop when I get bored

Knives have recently taken over as my main hobby, because im in new york & our gun rights here have been devistated to such a degree, its unimagineable.my desert eagle is banned now strictly on its weight alone,to give you an idea of how insane it has become.Im lucky enough to have one, theres no more to be sold here unless our current laws can be defeated. How about no more online ammo purchases? The responsible gun owner here has become a crimminal.knives are my last line in the sand...

Women, knives, motorcycles, reading, writing, painting, music......they all duke it out for #1
