Where's the best place to eat in your neck of the woods?

Around here, I'd say the best burgers to be had are at Hamburger Hamlet in Bethesda, MD.

Best seafood? Probably Phillips. They've got locations in Baltimore, DC, and the surrounding 'burbs. Given a choice, I'd pick either the one in Baltimore, or DC only because of the location near water.

Speaking of seafood, if you'd like to get crabbed, there's a place called Robertson's in Pope's Creek, MD. Last time, years ago, when I went there it was an excellent way to spend a weekend afternoon, loaded up to your armpits in fresh caught Maryland blue crabs, steamed just right and covered with Old Bay seasoning. Served with cold beer, I can't think of anything much better than that. Well, at least anything that I can mention and still keep this G rated. Haven't been there in a while, but still hoping the quality is still up there.

Best Greek food? There's Zagat rated Mykonos in Rockville, MD.

Best ribs? Unfortunately I don't think there is a rib place in the DC area that isn't part of a chain that started someplace else, like Famous Dave's or Chili's. They're good, but not unique to this location.

Best steak? Hmmm...I'd like to think I cook that myself. :D

Good Value: Hu's Chinese near Rose & National in the Culver City area. Hara Sushi near Wellesley and Wilshire in West LA.

Very Upscale: Elk tenderloin at the Saddle Peak Inn above Malibu. Unfortunately, I can't afford to go there any more.

In Tucson it's Cafe Poca Cosa for Mexican(sort of) and Chef Alisahs for Bosnian, which is good home cooking.

There are many different spots in MD to get a good crab cake. The best has to be the Seafood Stop in Fallston MD. Best crabcakes and service I have had. Carry out only, unless you want to eat at a picnic table out front. They have steamed crabs, fresh fish and shellfish (cooked to order too), crab soup and cream of crab soup. Their crabcakes are really good. The famous G & M's on Baltimores west side in the county has good food too.

From what I can tell there are no places to eat in the North Country or much down south, but I'm Golden on the east or west coast, lotsa great places, how about yer favorite hotdog hut or chessesteak shack.

The best crabs and sea food in Maryland is Jimmy Cantler's in Annapolis on the Severn river. A bit expencive, but worth it. In Ocean City by the comercial docks is The Captains Galley II.

For some great BBQ, there's a little hole in the wall in DC down on lower Wisconson Ave. called Rocklands. Ribs that the meat falls off the bone, and Texas style brisket to kill for.

I found some out of this world fried chicken in a little roadside hole in Damasus Maryalnd, called the Red Rooster. Also some great BBQ at the roadside Citco station in Lisbon Maryland.

In Rockville Maryland is a deli with the best corned beef and pastrami this side of NYC. Brooklands Deli in the Travila shopping center.

I think I've been spoiled for the last 20 years by having one of the best Deli's for sandwiches right across the street from work. Corti Brothers Market is a great place for sandwiches and apparently world renowned with foodies for wines, liquor, and amazing foods.

LoneStar steakhouse here in my part of Oz, they have the best prime rib and T-bones around. A few time when I have been in the USA I have gone to Tony Romas, they have great ribs

Too many good places over here in Mexico City...

I like the Yucatan style cuisine, "tacos de cochinita" (pork with a particular, spicy but not so hot, sauce) are great, they are quite common here, including the local baseball park.

My daughter goes every Sunday to a local street market and brings some "tacos de bistec y nopales" (beef and cactus), or "flautas de barbacoa" (large tortilla filled with barbecued sheep, with green chilli sauce and sprinkled with lettuce and white cheese), those things are sooo good.

There's an Argentinian place called "El Sencillito" two blocks from my house, with those big, thick, juicy steaks, I'm getting hungry...

Sometimes I just treat myself to some camembert cheese, a loaf of fresh rustic bread from a local bakery and a bottle of Spanish red wine. no need to go out.

Whilst I was going to college just east of Sacramento there was a place in Rocklin called Tokiodori, or I Love Terriaki - right accross the street from Sierra College. The food was cheap, simple, delicious, plentiful, and I have many great memories of eating there - me and my fiance always try to go there when we're back in town.

Lived in SF bay area (mainly Berkeley) for a while, lots of great hole in the wall Mexican food places. Picante's in Berkeley, (not a hole in the wall, a proper restaurant) is really great, not 100% authentic, but my favorite none the less. I'd give just about anything to have one of their chile verde burritos again.

Chez Panisse is of course is not to be missed if you spend any time at all in the bay area. I don't get to go to expensive restaurants often, but that place had some of the best food I have ever eaten.

Some great brew-pubs in Berkeley, Jupiters serving some fantastic pizzas and Tripple rock having a nice rueben. Each with delicious beer.

A few months ago I moved to Greenville North Carolina, I haven't found any place worth mentioning here - restaurants in this town, on the whole are pretty bad. Except B's Barbecue. Some of the best barbecue I've ever eaten. It's a small shack not too far from my house, cheap, delicious pork with an awesome Eastern North Carolinian vinegar sauce.

The Pitt in Raleigh was nice too. A bit more upscale, still a whole hog barbecue though. They have a large selection of beer and bourbon also. :)

Chez Shea in the Market for fine cuisine; wonderful stuff!
Brasa has the best happy hour menu I know of...

I haven't found anyplace "to die for" yet, but I'll keep eating at new places to find one!

I'd get a Pastrami on Rye from Katz's deli. Failing that, a burger from Paul's is great too.

When I was out in San Jose teachin' a Field Service Class on Chemical Safety and one on Robot Diagnostics and Troubleshooting Stepper Motors, (ya believe that, me teachin' 'bout Robots and Chemical Safety), I worked in the Semiconductor Industry in the mid 90s, anyway there was this dynamite little Mongolian BBQ joint right in town across from a ball field, I wish I could remember the name.

It was all ya can eat for one price but if ya took more than ya could eat they would weigh that make ya pay for the leftovers, this was supposed to discourage people from taken more than they would eat, reducin' the wasted food,it worked.:)

In my kitchen. I make an award winning batch of chicken or beef fried rice. I love to bbq too. I made my own bbq while getting certified in several types of welding.

Roanoke, VA. Chili w/ fresh chopped onions. :D

In Louisville it's the L&N wine bar and bistro. It continually ranks in the top 5 places in the city. The atmosphere is as good as the food. Last time I was there they had local farm raised roasted rabbit. Their Smoked Pork chop is the best meat entree I've ever tasted. Better than the best steak if you'll believe that.
