Benchmade Mini Crooked River Custom by TheManInBlack, on FlickrHey look knives that actually get used!
What model is the shorty?
It's the 705, a fairly short-lived smaller version of the venerable 710 that was in production in the early 2000's. It was discontinued and replaced by the aptly named 707 Sequel which featured a broader blade with the same handle shape executed in aluminum with an insert both sides. I picked up a Sequel some years ago and didn't care for the scales which had some sort of chalky black finish that marked up very easily. I was lucky when I bought one of my 705's that it came with a second set of scales--DOAT CF's--which I put on the Sequel. What model is the shorty?
Thanks. Unfortunately the 705's short production run limited the number made, but they do show up from time to time. I got two of mine here and the third over at the Benchmade Forum, which is not a bad place to keep an eye out for older, classic knives. Happy hunting!Very nice collection you've got there. I'll have to poke around and see if I can find a 705 that won't break the knife budget.
Nice. I have not been able to find that version of Griptilian so far, but I stopped looking a couple of months ago.S90V/carbon fiber Grip & Shot Show Bailout
