the 950/9555 and the 111 do use the same scales & hardware, i remember someone hade swapped the scales between the two on benchmade’s company forum. it’s been quite a few years ago or else i’d try to find the thread. was about the same deal as the original presidio line and the old bone collector axis knivesI can not believe how similar the 111's scales are to those of the Rift. Possibly the very same outline and and screw, pivot, lock and lanyard holes? It would be interesting to hear Jimmy'sBenchmade take.

Wow, very interesting M mrfields , I thank you very much for your quick and detailed reply. I got to say I quite like the yellow handles of the 111.the 950/9555 and the 111 do use the same scales & hardware, i remember someone hade swapped the scales between the two on benchmade’s company forum. it’s been quite a few years ago or else i’d try to find the thread. was about the same deal as the original presidio line and the old bone collector axis knives
no problem, the rift is one of my favorites. have used the 9555 auto rift for years at work and just reaquired a manual 950 from my son in trade for an 808 that he’s been eyeballing for quite some time now.
"Collector value" be damned, my friend. You've personalized, made that into a one-of-a-kind piece, and honored your late mom along the way. There's lots more value in that....Been carrying the Shot Show Mini-Freek way more that I ever expected to. This one caught my eye just in the thumbnail from the catalog release here, but I never gave it a whole lot of thought until I came across some Butterscotch Amber and Amethyst beads that belonged to my late mother and wanted to find a knife that matched to put them to some use on a lanyard. Luckily ultem has fallen out of favor so I was able to score this one for the low-low. Good thing, because I instantly ruined collector value by customizing it; replacing much of the hardware and removing the black coating throughout (including on the liners), then flaming the rest of the hardware. I bought a Vic classic that matched somewhat, and switched those scales onto a (discontinued) Vagabond. This is quickly becoming my most carried combo of the summer.

The Rift is already a good sized knife, but that Contego is one big ol' piece of cutlery
