am trying out my new blade today, the 10210 mini ambush is a sweet little knife. the rolling lock is definitely different. i was expecting it to operate like an axis lock but instead it feels more like a liner lock due to having to push it closed with your forefinger instead of being able to flick it shut. it didn’t take long to adjust to it though. i put it through its paces at work today and it stood up like a champ. am very satisfied

I really wish they would do a run of those today, then I remember that at today's pricing that knife would probably be close to $500.
Unfortunately, recent evidence supports your conclusion. I very much favor the older BMK models and my initial optimism about the re-release of the 710--a favorite of mine--was immediately dampened when I saw both the features and prices of the new models. The excellent simplicity of the original knife design was one of its strongest attributes and a simple upgrade of blade steel (though I'm perfectly happy with their D2) would have been more than enough of an "improvement" for me.

Benchmade seems to have a different marketing strategy than other knife makers as they discontinue most existing models when sales slow as the market saturates, switching to newer models. Other makers seem to keep producing knives that have had popular success while adding new models to their catalogues.

I just feel lucky to have the older BMK models in hand and have been willing to pay a premium for them when they pop up, though most of mine came to me before their prices took big jumps.
