Which Benchmade?

I have owned all of these. The Manix series is huge in the pocket and the non LW is heavy.

The Manix competes with the Griptillian which is significantly less expensive than either.

The Manix LW in the same steel is about the same price. And crappy pinned together construction

The Native has about 2 inches of useable blade.

I am waiting (and waiting) for a Magnacut Deka to see how that compares.
Hahaha. You can piss all over the knives I consider better value than the Bugout all you want. You asked , I answered. Everyone has their own opinion.

I say Bugout. Really a great knife. Disappears in the pocket. Nice and light. Fits my hand very well (full size not mini). My only gripe is the grivory scales. I no longer have a Bugout with them - I like aluminum and g10 versions. However, I fully admit that this is personal preference only. I’m not a big fan of the way the grivory feels but it does absolutely nothing to impede the performance of the knife And they are probably lighter.

The Manix2 lw is a good knife in its own right but fits in a different category for me. It’s a much larger bladed and not as slicey as the bugout. blade stock is significantly thicker. If I was doing some harder use cutting that would be my choice but for a light weight EDC the Bugout is a better fit for me.

Griptilian. It's a work knife. But as mentioned the Hogues are terrific.
I have no idea why the bugout is so popular.
The 940 is a slick design, but too thin in the hand for hard work and leverage.

Agreed. My all time fav BM is the Spydie hole, sheepsfoot with AWT scales, and a LNW Blacksmith clip.

The Manix is a large knife, but on the others I completely disagree, but to each their own.

I've been enjoying my Benchmade Redoubt.

I have liked the concept of the Redoubt since it was announced. It looks very close in shape to the ever-elusive folding Izula (at least, the Mk I version, which I liked better). That stupid green insert has got to go! If they make a solid slab version, or people start doing aftermarkets, I may convince myself to get one. But I know if I buy now, they'll come out with a much "better" version in two weeks.

My issue with a lot of Benchmades is how thick they are…..the large Grips and Mini Adamas print more than a full sized Hinderer and large Inlaid CRKs…. I prefer a thinner knife that takes up less pocket real-estate. For me the Bugout is a light duty folder that is a great slicer and Carry’s well in shorts, or dress pants… u don’t know it’s there, kind of a gents knife.
The 940 is a bit more robust, gives a little more blade length, and I’m not afraid to take it to work and use it hard. If I could only have 1 it would be the 940. Both are nice light weight blades that take up very little pocket room.

I recently grabbed a mini Osborne on the exchange. I can see why some might think it’s too small for an EDC, but I really like it for myself. If you’re looking for something with a little more heft to it, I’ll throw a vote in for the 940.

I rather like the green insert.

And that's why this here knife hobby is a big tent with lots of room under it!

Taken by itself, the green insert is neither good nor bad. The problem is my cognitive bias, which is looking for something to fulfill that (perceived) hole in my collection where the folding Izula would have gone. I'm not having a nostalgia crush, I swear!
