Which Bladeforums discussions have had the greatest impact on shaping your knowledge of knives?

God, too many to count. When I came in I didn't know, uh, poo from shinola and the members here educated me tremendously.

Special shout outs to K KenHash M marcinek Larrin Larrin jlauffer jlauffer M Mr Blonde RamZar RamZar FortyTwoBlades FortyTwoBlades Joezilla Joezilla and many others for their knowledge of steels, blade types, history of blade design, metallurgy, in-depth knowledge about products from specific companies.

I wouldn't consider myself anywhere near an expert of any of this, but I've picked up a ton of knowledge about metallurgy, testing methods, the history of blade usage and design, even geometry and physics from those folks.

Oh, shout-out to shinyedges shinyedges for being the one that got me to experiment with EDC fixed blades. His custom Bodyguard is an absolute work of art and dude never hesitates to thump on it. Also, The Aflac Duck/Blues Bender was a fantastic source of knowledge about OTFs, especially care and maintenance. He and WValtakis WValtakis are bad men that have made me spend too much money. I'm gonna have to stop here because I could go on and on. This place is a treasure trove of knowledge and that's a big reason I support it.

Not sure I belong in that company, but thanks Richard!

For me, I was pretty much a production knife guy before coming here. But after exploring outside the CS subforum, got exposed to a bunch of great makers, as well as great members, and started down the custom road. Also wasn't really into folders before coming here, but that has certainly changed!

Your posts about the history of Cold Steel blades have been a fantastic resource for the forum, my friend!

Too many to name, but special mention goes to this gem of a thread. Eleven years and counting!

No single discussion was responsible but it was a wide variety of threads in the General Discussion & Spyderco forums which, in their totality, have contributed to enhancing my knowledge about knives.

There's a lot to know and I'm open to learning something new here every day.

Ah yes I have also learned an incredible amount from the Spyderco Forums.

I did a considerable amount of arguing about steel as a teenager on Blade Forums before I started my Materials Science degrees. Cliff Stamp was always up for an argument. I learned some things about steel, edge geometry, etc. by having to argue various points. And how to argue on the internet without becoming a nut case.

You’re too kind. :)

The post-millennial Traditional Forum discussions on classic Americana knives.

Made me read up, ask questions and ultimately spend a whole bunch of money on a genre of knife I had never really seriously considered.

Today they are some of my most beloved and cherished knives in my collection.

Blues Blues and Bastid Bastid and many other fabulous members of the Traditional Forum are responsible and I blame them completely........! ;)
