Then tell me what knife(DESIGN) you would want to bring on a Wilderness Survival test.

As in "we" drop you off 75 miles from no-where(if such a place still exists)--and we will pick you up in 30 days---or you can choose to walk out.

You have no cell phone-or other way to contact us---

You are on your own....

These are Bill Siegle knives(except for the last 2 on the second photo)

You can have these made from any steel you want--Including INFI(in this situation).....

What I'm asking is what design do you think would be most up to the task of allowing you the greatest chance to survive.???

To make it simple--you can only have one knife with you.

What design would you choose..??????

And why?????

I'd pick the bottom Siegle in the first pic with the orange cord. I just like that design best I think.

I like the top one in the first link. I am not into recurves, too hard to field sharpen. I like a belly too. The botom one in the first pic would do good to if its full tang. I also like the bottom one in the second link, just not crazy bout the choil.

That's a really tough one! I love all his designs. After much deliberation, I think I'd take the last knife in the first pick, the one with the orange lanyard.

I like the simplicity of the design, and the likely quite usable choil. I also like a lot of the recurves, but I would choose something simpler to sharpen using what I'd find out in the wilds. The length is sufficient on the chosen blade to be a good chopper, and looks comfy enough to choke up on to do necessary fine work. I like the flat spine for batoning.

In reality I think I'd be pretty happy with most any of those, they look like real winners.

As far as steel, any old standby would work. So long as it's carbon. Some 1095, 5160, 1085, whatever.

Top one in the second picture for me.

Looks like it has a lot of belly and would be good for shelter building.

I like the recurves....but as J Williams said they would be a PITA to sharpen on a rock.

Sorry--In case you are new to Knives

The other 2 in the Second photo are a Grayman "Mega Pounder"

and the bottom one is a Swamp Rat "Camp Tramp"

Top Siegel second Pic. I have one almost EXACTLY like it, but without the cuts in the handle. It is an awesome very well rounded blade. Useful for all camp chores, and belly aids in butchering and skinning in a pinch.

I would ONLY take a Bark River...Just Kidding!!!

My vote goes to the bottom one in the first pic, the one with the orange lanyard. That looks like the best size/shape combo with a nice shaped handle that could take care of a very wide range of tasks...

I would take the Hudson Bay, top one in the first pic...I always liked that design...Gene

I prefer the 4th one in the 1st pic w/ Orange para cord ran thru it,I like the blade design for my taste..

I love Bill's designs...I would be torn between the top and bottom one from the first page along with the top one on the second page. I do like recurves, if they're slight...too much and they become a challenge to sharpen without the right tools.

ROCK6

First pic bottom one or the top one of the second pic.

The straight design of the first one has been proven, and I like the slight angle between the blade and the handle on the second one.
