I have forsaken the moderns for a Case Stockman and I have a Texas Cattle Knife on the way.

Nice

Ever carry a medium or large Texas Toothpick ?
I sort of have the hots for one and they are starting to get scarce.
Very minimalist; lots of length but still very light and looks like it could even be pocket friendly because it curves and is thin and light(ish?).

What say everyone else to . . . TX Toothpick yes / no ? ? ?

I don’t own any of the Texas Toothpick series, although I would love to try a large one. I mostly like Trappers and Stockman patterns.

I have huge hands and they're just too small for me.
You might try a full size trapper in genuine stag like the Case Trapper in these photos. The handle is quite thick which makes up for it not being tall (wide) like the modern 710 and Para2. It can hang with these larger knives.

Ha, ha and there is always the Opinel #12 shown with a modified blade.

PS : the Trapper shown is a two blade with one of the blades removed. Be ware the slim single blade trapper is smaller.

Gotta have a large waved locking tactical and a traditional slipjoint in my daily carry.

Modern only for me. The only traditional I own was my grandfather's. I can remember using it as a kid. It's a no name nothing of a knife, but has a lot of sentimental value. It's been put away for years now though.

There's a few traditionals I've seen pics of that I think look great, but I would never buy one. I have huge hands and they're just too small for me.
I would have to ask what you do with a knife on a regular basis that requires a full grip with your "huge hands"? Take a look at the GEC #23 (4.5" closed) or the #42 (4.25" closed). Two of my favorites actually and the size was the dominant reason I have purchased the #23. But as time has gone forward, I find that I don't really need something this large or since I prefer a two bladed slippie, this heavy in the pocket. So, I have moved to the 42 size as my largest that I will currently consider for purchase. The Queen Mountain Man is another big one which I own. There are also the Big Daddy Barlows that run around 5.5" closed. Beastly for a slippie.

To answer the question of what do I favor, the answer has to be traditionals. I admire a lot of moderns for their looks and function, but for some reason they don't have as much appeal to me for daily carry. So many of the moderns are fantastic knives with superb design and materials, but a simple, small traditional with bone or stag covers is what really feels right in my hand and my pocket.

I voted both. I usually carry a modern almost every day, but there are times when I like to carry a traditional. And for some reason I want most of my moderns to be users, but I'm okay collecting certain traditionals - like doctor knives with spatula, for example, is one of my interests. And barlows, just because that's what I mostly had, and saw the most of, when I was a kid.

Both. There’s a nostalgic romance to a slip joint that no folder can duplicate. I was gifted a TC Barlow and it’s a gem and later bought a Queen barlow on eBay. But modern folders are more functional and fun to play with. And they are a far better value. There’s room for both in my collection.

I carry my ZT0350 with a lanyard clipless in my back pocket. I carry two slip joints with differing styles in the right front. Most of the time the ZT blade is too wide with too broad a point to get into an area to cut or scrape but I love the heft and THWACK!!!!

Gotta have a large waved locking tactical and a traditional slipjoint in my daily carry.
Yeah . . . Charlie Mike,
I think that the first time I became aware of you was in a YouTube and you were reviewing the Cold Steel Lucky and just happened to make a reference to your other knife in your pocket which was a very substantial Emerson. First time I had ever seen a waved opening. I kept watching over and over . . .
what the ! ! ! ! ? ? ? ?
was that a magic trick ? ? ? ?
Did he stop the camera, put the knife in his hand and somehow start the camera ? ? ? ?
That was cool !
And of course your cat dude was helping. :)

Both, but for the most part, the recent years have been pretty much occupied with traditionals. They're more "honest" to me, opening with both hands a knife clad in bone, wood, or other natural materials. For the most part I don't need a one-handed knife and I feel disingenuous flicking open some tacticool folder simply to open mail or cut a pickle in half.

Of course, I do still carry a modern folder as well, although I only own a handful anymore. Sometimes I do need a one-handed knife. But for the most part, I don't have much interest in new, modern knives. My 940D2CF is getting long in the tooth and I'd like to replace it with a 940-1 or 940-1501 (or both), or maybe a Spyderco Sliveraxe. I've also been hovering over the "buy it now" button for a CF/CPM154 Leek for months. But that's about it.

Meanwhile I've bought a bunch of Cases, GECs, and want many more.

I am more in modern folders but I like traditional knives too
Actually what is important for me is to have one hand opening
Modern or traditional is just a question of look ;)

But as OHO is more common on modern that is the reason why I got more modern that traditional knives ;)

Modern folders for me. My usage demands modern conveniences. Although, for fixed-blades, I'm clearly in the traditional camp. I just really prefer the look of a traditional fixed-blade over a modern one. But I have both modern and traditional folders, and modern and traditional fixed-blades, just for the collection, and I enjoy using them all. I just use a modern folder more than anything else, generally-speaking.

Modern for me. Most times I need a knife I only have one hand free.
Carry a Juice or Rebar, but never use their blades.
Joe

I'm a fan of both, each has it's place, they actually if paired up right create an awesome cutting system where each blade compliments the others. How about a traditional pattern done in modern materials?

JD Ellis Lanny's Clip, blue G-10 frame, red linen micarta liners, maroon canvas micarta bolsters with natural canvas micarta covers.

This is a beautiful knife, for sure.

Own, use, and carry both. Traditional slipjoints are the majority, so I suppose I "favor" those.

Both.
Different tasks, different knives.
I'm not breaking down large cardboard boxes with a traditional knife.
And I'm not opening envelopes or peeling apples with a large tactical folder.

I like modern folders mainly for the convenience of a pocket clip and stainless steels.
Traditional knifes do catch my eye with exotic wood scales not a big fan of bone scales.
