Both are good, but i prefer modern over traditional due to its usage, as modern are easier to use solid to get a beating which are just the thing you cannot do with a traditional one. Modern ones are cheaper and come in wide range of variety and one can choose according to their need. Where as with traditional you are limit. If we talk about the blade then modern are giving a lot of option and its grade, e.g the steel can come in many qualities which one can choose according to the need and budget.

If its about hobby then you can have both if your pockets lets you. I would certainly not mind keeping both.

I've got lots of pockets...i choose both. Today I have a ZT920 in my right pocket, a SOG Power Assist in my left, and a Beer Scout in my watch pocket.

I like having a fast to action knife, a tool to fix stuff, and a warm and comfortable traditional on me most of the time.

I carry both but I lean towards a traditional with a newer steel like Queen used to use. Something that may or may not qualify as a modern traditional, like the Roundhead barlow or Benchmade Shori. Knives like that will do most of what I use a knife for and they just cut better than most modern knives.

The moderns I carry have a blade profile that cut well, so because of that I don't have many moderns.
I have knives to cut with and tools for hard use.

The Queen made Northwoods Indian River Jack in CPM 154, is a favorite in my pocket.
Strong pull, solidly built and gets very sharp.
Mine is convexed on a waterstone and do detailed work with very little cutting resistance. Yet it holds the edge for a very long time between sharpenings.

Here's mine and Thanks for showing Yours!
