Which do you like better? Your Opinion/Contest

I wanted to hear what you guys like the best. Post your opinion and Friday (2/5) at 5PM PST I will do a drawing. The winner gets which one of these 2 blocks that they think looks best. I will use a random number generator and pick a number between 1 and the number of the last post. Your post number is your entry number. Only one post per person. I will pay for the shipping to whoever wins.

I have cut a bit of the redwood we collected on our burl hunting trip, but I wanted to check with you guys before I cut much more.

These 2 blocks were cut from the same piece of Hard Redwood Burl.

Cutting the burl one way shows burl figure with lots of eyes on the face. (top - #1)
Cutting another way shows flame figure on the face. (bottom - #2)

It would all depend on the knife that I wanted to put it on, but the flame-pattern in wood is gorgeous, i've got some maple burl that has similar pattern that I love. I'll go out on a limb here, and while i think that most people would prefer the top, I'll vote for the bottom one.
 
They are both unique, I think #1 is absolutely stunning and would look particularly great on a small knife where you get a lot of texture in a small area.

#2 I think is the one I like best because you'll have awesome figure from all angles and this would make a fantastic hidden tang (or full tang for that matter, just lose some figure).

Both great, I keep going back to #2 as my favorite though!
 
I vote for the top, although one reason I like hidden tangs is because you get a little of the other with either one. Thanks
 
I'm an eye guy, at least for this wood. However I completely agree that a good thing about hidden tangs is showing off all sides of the piece.
 
Ugh, this is like putting 2 good looking girls in front of me and asking "Do you prefer the blonde or the brunette"

They're both great looking, and in a perfect world I wouldn't mind having some of each. Depending on the knife I think both have their place.

Putting me to a decision I would have to say I like #2 a TINY, TINY bit better. We're talking like 49/51 here.

The flame is unique. The spottty eyes don't look that attractive to me. (compared to the flame)
