Which do you like better? Your Opinion/Contest

Wow, how do I answer this one... I guess I'm a sucker for the eyes too, so I'm going to have to go with #1. It's a good thing you don't allow more than one post because I have a feeling in about 1/2 hour I could easily switch to #2.

I like #1 also for the eyes. Although #2 is very appealing and you would have some very interesting patterns running down the back of the knife.

Man Mark, you've got to be one of the world's best marketeers!

Are you going to tally up the answers? Looks like it's running about neck and neck! If the grace of random access happens to land on my number, I'll pick nummmmmmber........2 please........and thank you for your kindness.

When's the big roll out of the blocks for sale planned?

I like the flame pattern (#2) the best -- I've got a small stash of several types of Australian burls cut similarly - gorgeous stuff. I also trust the strength of burl cut this way much more -- the other (#1) is essentially an end grain/cross grain cut.

I love burl but I am going to have to go with number 2. You can buy burl from a lot of places but I have never seen it in that cut. Also its hard to say whether the new style of cut would really catch the light like burl can when polished.
Im curious if you can shed any light on that.

Would there be any strength issues on using it with the different cut, with the grain being different?

They are both beautifull pieces of wood but i like #2 just because it is not the normal that you see everyday.
