Which do you prefer for edc

I prefer a folding knife because it is more compact. I pick a knife with a blade length that is useful for me, and a handle length that I can get a good hold on. A folding knife of this size is a little too big to fit in my pocket but a folding knife fits easily so the folding knife is easier for me to carry.

I carry a folder most of the time but it is not uncommon to find my Fiddleback Runt on me too! I can honestly go either way, it just depends upon what I have to do that day.

Folding... because I can conceal carry legally.

Folding. I never have a need for a fixed blade knife outside of a kitchen.

For me it honestly depends on what I feel like carrying that day. For the longest time I've carried folders (usually a Kershaw Zing Tanto, Kershaw Volt II, or a SOG Mini Aegis), but for almost a year now I've carried an ESEE Izula in my pocket or horizontally on my belt. Honestly I think I like carrying the Izula more because it's slimmer than any folder and almost disappears in my pocket. But like I said, it really just depends for me. I'll usually switch off every few days or weeks.

Folders are generally more compact, allowing more room for more stuff - multitool, light, Sharpie, etc.

Generally I like a folding knife for edc but I've started experimenting with a neck knife and am liking it so far with a folding still in my pocket.

My EDC is 2 folders (Buck 484s) and 2 Kabar 125Xs out in public and the same Bucks with a Kabar 12xx and a BK9 being the fixed blades around the farm.

I believe in redundancy - you never know when you will need to cut something with your off hand, and you never know when you might loose your knife.

I used to only carry folders unless hunting. I've been on a fixed blade fix for the last few months, and it is rare to catch me with a folder.

At work we get 3-4 truck deliveries a week, and I have to open and break down lots of boxes. I do it all on the retail floor, since our backstock area can't hold the volume of boxes delivered.

Folders.

Simply no need for the length or stoutness of a fixed during my typical everyday tasks.

A folder is all I need for edc and for my outdoors work. Easier for me to carry concealed.
