Which do you prefer for edc

Folders.

Simply no need for the length or stoutness of a fixed during my typical everyday tasks.

Interesting. Most of the fixed blades I carry are smaller and lighter than my ZT 0200 which used to be my go to folder.

Granted, the ZT folds, so the carry length is smaller in the pocket. That's about the only trade off for me.

Folders all the time. I just don't have need of a fixed, and todays society makes it hard to accept open carry of fixed blades. It's been a very long time since I've seen any hostile injuns' coming over the hill or had to skin out a brontosaurus. If I'm i the kitchen then I have a block of kitchen knives on hand. My slip joint of the day does all I need away from the house.

I carry an ESEE 3 in my front pocket attached with the boot clip when applicable and free floating when not. If I'm dressing up or going to college, I'll carry my Spyderco Endura Wave in the same location, occasionally my Manix 2.

I don't think there is one "perfect" answer to this question. If the situation allows for it, I will always carry a fixed blade over a folder. They draw faster, cleaner (less thinking/fine motor skills) and are usually always more stout and durable. There are however situations where I would prefer something more concealable. Especially in front of the sheeple.

Good luck with your decision, hope this helped.

At 4" and nearly 8oz, your ZT is hardly what I'd call a typical EDC folder. ;)

My Office EDC maxs out at 2.25" and 2oz. My non-Office EDC maxs out at 3.5" and 4oz. All more than adequate for the tasks at hand.

For camping/hiking, it's a fixed, like the BK15 or BK10. At 5.5" and 6.5oz and 12oz, they are much more practical than any overbuilt folder.

Always a folder, usually two. These get daily use.
I do keep a small fixed blade in my work bag, either the K390 Mule or a Cold Steel Outdoorsman that I've had for 20 years. These don't see much use to be honest but I like having them around :)

I carry a folder when I'm at home or around town. If I go out in the wilderness for days, I leave the folder at home and carry a small fixed blade and a big fixed blade. In town I have no desire to draw attention to my knife and concealing a fixed blade is a pain and a little gay.

Edc consists of a Fallkniven juni & usually an Al Mar sere 2000 d/a, Lone Wolf lobo cocobolo d/a, Spyderco Vallotin d/a, when in and around d the city. When up north a Fallkniven volcano, Emerson super cqc 8, Zt 561 or a Cold Steel Outdoorsman & a Buck 110. Also a roselli axe tags along for most of my travels thru the woods.

I ALWAYS prefer a fixed-blade. Unfortunately, I can't legally carry fixed-blade knives in my neck of the woods and pocket fixed-blades take up too much room. So I carry folders instead.

I prefer both. Most of the time I do not need both, but I enjoy it, and why not if you enjoy it. At work it is just a folder.

This thread needed at least one pic.

Um, where exactly are you trying to conceal your knife? [emoji15]

Joking aside, what I carry depends on where I'm working that day. If I'm in the hospital I carry a traditional folder fully concealed, if I'm in the clinic I carry my Benchmade 940 clipped in my front pocket, and pretty much anywhere else I pocket carry my Fiddleback Esquire (an amazingly comfortable knife for fixed blade edc).

I carry both almost always. The fixed is almost exclusively a necker, especially this time of year.

Folder, only because I cant legally conceal a fixed blade in my state. Really wish I could .........

I only carry folders when I'm in big cities, at my family's ranch or the nearby villages (or when I'm hunting or riding my horse in the mountains) I carry a fixed blade knife.
