Which for first Zero Tolerance knife?

You really can't go wrong with either of your choices. I'm really loving the 0620/0630 platform lately.

I may be stating the obvious here, but are assisted opening knives legal where you live? I know many countries treat them the same as fully automatic knives.

If it was me, I would save up longer and get the 0562. The blade steel is a significant step up over the 0350's S30V. The S30V is still a very good blade steel, but if you do some research, you'll see that Elmax is significantly better. I like the blade shape of the 0562 way better than the 0350 as well. But that's personal preference.

As for the 0630: I've never thought much or that method of opening a knife. Some people love it. I don't. If you need your knife in a hurry, and it DOESN'T open as you remove it from your pocket, you are in a real spot.

I understand the appeal of saving money by buying the 0350. But I think that you will wish you had gotten the nicer 0562 sooner, rather than later. Then you are looking at selling the 0350, at a considerable loss. And it won't be all that easy to sell, because it isn't as nice as, well, EVERY other Zero Tolerance knife.

If you can manage the higher cost of the 0562 in any sort of a reasonable amount of time, I really think you will be happy that you bought the nicer knife.

And as the poster above stated, the 0801 knife is the same list price as the 0562, and uses the same Elmax blade steel as the 0562. It has all titanium scales, making for a very attractive knife. It's a bit heavier than the 0562, by about an ounce.

The one downside I see for the 0801 is that if you carry it clipped in your pocket, and there is anything else made of metal in that pocket, like keys or loose coins, the titanium scales on the 0801 is really going to show nicks and scratches from the other things in your pocket. The G-10 front scale on the 0562 won't show every nick and scratch. It will wear over time, but it won't be NEARLY as noticeable as what happens to titanium scales.

I carry my EDC knife in a nylon belt holster, which gives them a lot of protection to everyday wear and tear. The down side to this is that you can't get to it as quickly and easily as a knife clipped to your pocket. But then, I've NEVER lost a knife that I carried in a holster, and my first Gerber Covert folder, with the ATS-34 blade did leap out of my pocket, and commit suicide. I won't EDC a knife clipped to my pocket anymore because of this. I found that knife had gotten out of my pocket at least a half dozen times, before I finally lost it. At least 3 times I found it on my car seat.

So that is something to think about as well. The 0562 has a very deep carry pocket clip, which would help to decrease loss. I don't know how 'deep' the pocket clips place the knife, on the 0350 or the 0630, but if you plan to carry it clipped to your pocket, this is an important consideration. Losing an expensive knife REALLY hurts. I paid about $100 for my Gerber covert folder, 12 to 14 years ago.

Yes. We have it so easy in the USA. Almost everything is marketed here. and easy to buy. Shipping charges, if not included in the price, are $5 or $6 USD. I feel sorry for people who live outside the USA. You can see all this cool stuff, but it's almost as bad as if it was in a museum in a glass case. Look but don't own. You have my sympathy.

Yeah its harder to get a proper dealer here to aquire such blades. But atleast things are improving and some dealers have started to bring in CRKs and Brous etc so not too bad i suppose haha

I was thinking about a 452 and a 450 but I heard about ergo issues with the 450. Anyone own one that can comment on that?

I see no problems with 450 ergos. But it is a thin, narrow, and light design.
I see that model more as a light gentleman's folder rather than an "overbuilt" brute as some people categorize all ZT's. If you are looking for a small but hard worker, you may look at the 808. Or even the 770CF that is surprisingly durable for how light and pretty it is.

Personally I keep gravitating to the heavier models (absolutely love the 456), but I'm lucky enough to be able to wear jeans to the office daily.
