  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Which hunting knife patern you prefer?

Oh it does Mack, and at ~61 hRc its gonna slice quite nicely. Just got it back around turkey day, and haven't had a chance to really put it to (intended) use.

I mentioned earlier that I prefer drop points, well here is my ideal SGK blade design, which scales up nicely to a full sized hunter with a 3.5+" blade. These patterns are all the exact same blade, just handle variations, top two are 6.75", bottom two 6.5" LOA.

I use a modified Wharnie that I had made by the guy who does my blades. 1095, 5.75" handle, 4.75" blade, stabilised black walnut handle with the handle shaped so it is a handle and bolster. It has a razor sharp swedge that takes up half the spine. In the Wharnie config, makes a superb gutter/ripper. Turn it over and that swedge skins the hell out of the deer or elk. Got tired of carrying two knives. I really need to learn how to post pics here. That double edge Old Timer in the top post is the next design I'm looking at. I've found that Hawkbill type blade to be just a dream at boning chores.

A buck 110 and a mora 611 or 612 is what I use for field dressing. Just depends on what I pickup before I head out.

I would love to see a pic if you figure it out
