haha yeah ok well u know what i really mean. i want something very durable and stays sharp thru anything and practicaly bulletproof. yes i am also looking 4 an EDC. thanks 4 the help so far. it sounds like the Strider is a much better knife then the Sebenza so im leaning that way rite now.

if you want an EDC, what kind of pants do you wear day to day?
if you wear slacks, a strider might be a bit heavy

I think we have to assume he wants a folder for EDC. Since he was asking sort of Strider versus Sebenza it seems reasonable to assume that.

yea it is reasonable, but there are plenty of ppl who buy these two knives, just so they can sit in a drawer.

i would be one of those, which is why i dont bother saving up for one.

I EDC a Strider. I think if I had a Sebenza I would be afraid to "mess it up". An analogy that works for me is if a Sebenza is a Benz then a Strider is a Hummer (H1 not those flashy new ones). I would take the Benz out on nice days and always keep it clean. But a Hummer/Humvee? I would love to take that bad boy out and really test it!

But thats just me. A few months ago I was trying to choose between an Emerson Commander or a Strider SnG for my first "nice" knife. I went with the SnG and was extremely happy. My wallet wasn't, but I was.

The one thing I can't get over on the whole Strider thing is that it's half titanium and half g10. That just doesn't make snese to me, since you're only as strong as your weakest link. Why would you make half of your handle and suport g10 when the other half is titanium?

the Titanium has the lock and the bladestop, I believe. g10 offers a better grip. Best of both worlds. I dont see a weak link.

The G-10 assists with the stiffness, and rigidity of the knife, and the Ti with the lock strength. It may look strange if you aren't used to that combo, but it works very well. As an EDC both knives are fine, but I think the Strider is better.

Can't you guys TELL when somebody's just screwing with you?

He's got 10 posts. He's trying to start a Strider vs. Chris Reeve war.

For the love of Pete...

You guys are gullible.

Hey Count Chockula I will buy you a beer if he is trolling. I think this one is on the up and up.

Hey, Count-o-Lantern, you saw how he writes. I don't think he's smart enough to troll. :p

Looks too intentional to me.

I'll take that bet. And I'm NOT Count Chocula, dangit. :D

I'm with fulloflead. I haven't been around here that long but it looks like a TROLL to me.

LOL ok. You are on. I bet he gets the Strider. If he fails and this thread goes way south on his behalf, I will paypal you enough for a 6 pack.

Because the titanium is only one side of the handle, meaning when you flex the knife you've got the titanium and ghe g10 under stress. Which do you think will fail first? That (other than the questionable ergonomics) is what I see to be the big failing of these knives. Well, that and price.

G-10 is some really strong stuff. You also have to understand that the solid back spacer is milled out of the same piece that makes up the handle, so it acts like a cross member to strengthen the handle and makes it pretty un flexable. The only part that will flex under human hands is the lock bar. I am sure at some point now, someone, who will remain nameless, will chime in with some theory that will attempt to prove me wrong :p. The Titanium is there like was stated above, to facilitate the lock bar and for the blade stop. You may or may not believe this, but the thumb stud doesn't even contact the G-10 side of the cutout for the blade stop. It looks as if it does, but due to design it doesn't. Mick Strider stated this in a post a while back. The Ti side is the side that controls the blade stop and lock by design. Hey Fulloflead, just so you understand the guy who posted this thread has to make it go south, by some act of tomfoolery to win the beer. You and I both know that we ourselves are fully capable of turning this thread into a 3 ring circus. LOL :D If he comes back and legitimately was trying to start the war, the beer is yours. I promise. :)

Whoa! Hold everything. There is a very big difference between "tactical" and "extremely tactical". "Tactical" is like ninjas and pirates. "Extremely Tactical" is more like Batman and Klingons.

But "Double Secret Tactical" is like Super Sayans and Jedis. In fact, we're really not even supposed to talk about D.S.T. on an open forum like this.

 :D It's too bad we can't still give those little green chiclets out.

Back to the thread: Have you looked at the Spyderco Manix, Military, or ATR? I would consider those good "bang for the buck" "tactical" blades. You can even get the ATR and Milie in all black versions. Prices are such that you could get all three for the cost of a Strider or CRK.
