Which Knife Company (IYO) Produces The BEST Edge Fresh Out Of The Box…?

Spyderco hands down. Delica ZDP, PM2 S30v, Native 5 s35vn, Dragonfly vg10 all were hair popping sharp out of the box doesn't seem to matter the type of steel I believe all these knives have a full flat grind as well. My 2 BM's a rift and contego not as sharp out of the box as the spydies don't know if thats apples to apples but there you go.

My Emerson knives have consistently been the sharpest factory knives I've owned.

I've had quite a few outright duds from Benchmade, just a few from Spyderco. Not enough from Kershaw, Emerson, Buck, Strider or others to reach conclusions. The sharpest and most consistent edges have come from CRK.

So far for me nothing has come sharper then then my delicas and PM2, although my 2 skylines were pretty damn close to them.

Spyderco, with Kershaw running a close second. Benchmade needs to take lessons from those two when it comes to sharpening: nearly every Benchmade I've owned or handled was dull as soap out-of-box.

Out of multiple purchases, spyderco hands down. My Gayle bradley was crazy sharp, like my wicked edge.

i have to qualify. spyderco- japan-made. the four US-made militaries i own are somewhat unimpressive edge-wise (by spyderco standards) but they will give any other brand a run for their money. the japan-mades, on the other hand, are hair-splitting sharp out of the box.
