Which knife is the best you have ever used?

IMG_20180219_153047_465.jpg

No question at all. There's some close seconds, but the ZT 0850 is firmly planted at the top of the heap.
I've never been more pissed about a knife with no lefty option than this one.

Yep !
Make it a little (a lot) lighter . . . give the scales some texture . . .
and
guess what is winging it's way to my mail box as we speak (type / read )?
Buck 110 Folding Hunter LT !
Will it knock everything else out of my pocket ?
Coubee . . . coubee
If you catch me at the grinder taking a millimeter off the blade thickness think nothing of it . . . it's just my little uncontrollable, obsessive, obnoxious, habit.

PS: hahaha . . . gulp . . . that would mean that the best knife I have ever used costs all of $28.
It could happen . . . still though
there is that M4 fixation of mine.

Like the song said :
Only you can make all this world seem right
. . .
Only you and you alone can thrill me like you do
. . .
. . .
. . .
When you hold my hand I understand the magic that you do
You're my dream come true, . . .
Still haven't went for one yet as my standard 110 isn't lacking anything for me, but I definitely want one.
The 110 is long enough to stay upright and where you put it in your pocket, and the 110LT is lightweight enough to actually carry loosely in your pocket.
I like the idea of a 110 I could carry loosely in my pocket, one that I like the looks of unlike the ecolite and Bucklite.

Is it as nice as it looks? I salivate looking at it.
I feel guilty carrying other knives. Like they're all inadequate and I've deliberately chosen to waste some of my life carrying them. It's hands down my favorite knife ever. Not just that I've owned, but even the far more expensive stuff that comes across the sharpening bench.

The action does have a bit of a break-in though. Give it some time if you don't absolutely love it at first.

the 110LT
I was just about to buy a second regular 110 and file checkered texture into the handle like a rifle stock, or add some of my KreyEx scales to it like I did the Urban Trapper . . . and then . . . it was like they read my mind and the LT hit the market.
So I'm physiqued. I might still do the former; I even started a thread about it but not too many owner mods turned up.

I agree. Not to sound snobish, but that is such a beginner question and I am tired of hearing it asked. Stop asking for the "Best" knife solutions. The right tool, for the right job. It's like asking what is the best tool in your tool box? A hammer or pliers or screwdriver? A little wisdom for you, Nothing, no one, no where, no how, and no what will work for every situation. Once you realize that, you will learn to adapt with life in whatever it throws at you.

It's been done to death sure, I still enjoy seeing what conclusions people come to. Think of all of the knives you wouldn't know about if BF threads like this didn't exist. I'm sure you've come across a model that sparked your interest in similar threads in the past.

It is a tough question to answer though. The manix 2 has been a go to for me lately so I'll go with that.

Ps.. I might not own a manix if it wasn't for threads like these (top5/best work knife/best beater).

And that would make me sad.

It all depends how you take the question, I took it to mean most used and the one you reach for most often for your EDC needs. I didn't take it to mean a one knife solution, the best for everything kind of knife. That does not exist like you said, the right tool for the right job, but there are those knives you just gravitate towards and grab because they just do the job.

My answer was my Alox Swiss Army knife, now I have to add my Opinel #6 in olivewood, just a super slicer.:D

Spyderco southfork and I'm selling it... I am going to regret it down the line. It is a kitchen beast. But I wanna try something else so it will be sold off
.

Chris Reeve Knives feel the best to me and age very gracefully... very comfortable knife to carry. Well thought out designs; you notice the precision and attention to detail more as you use and carry the knife daily.
Spyderco is a close second and many days my first choice. I seem to go back and forth between these two brands for EDC.
The Spydercos are cheaper and IMO cut better and always seem to fit the hand like a glove. I'd say Spyderco is the clear choice when you're mostly/ only concerned with function. Higher end stuff like CRK and Hinderer makes boring cutting jobs at work more fun. Plus, it's like the knife version of a Rolex or a Porsche but most of the Spyderco line zips through stuff like butter. Would you rather drive a Porsche or a Tacoma? It's that kind of argument where both are top of their class in what they're designed for and which is better is a weird thing to argue.

The best knife you'll ever use is one where you truly think about what you want from the knife in relation to the use that it is going to see.
If you just want a knife that is the "best knife ever" buy a CRK, Busse, Hinderer etc. because they really do offer more just in terms of holding it and looking at it.
Thanks man!!

Until you try to open it with one hand while wearing that glove. ;) :D

For me its the Military on the right, which replaced the Military on the left.

It's slicy, reasonably tough, great with gloves, and has quality materials and build.

Works for me.
Nice knife!!

It has taken me a long time to get a CQC-10 because it's pretty ugly as far as overall looks go, but a good local deal popped up so I pulled the trigger.

So far it's incredibly versatile and has not left my pocket. Function over fashion.
Recently I've also heard about CQC!!

I've been carrying two bladed Barlows for about 60 years, so...yeah, I like them a lot:

That was precisely my very first "good knife"! I saved up for a long time to buy it at the local hardware store when I was a kid. I think the two bladed Barlow is the classic barlow pattern. Carried that particular knife for years until I broke the main clip blade cutting a branch. Case replaced the knife for which I am forever grateful. I was a kid and did not have the resources just to go out and buy another one...
