Which knife is this

Well if it was a fake. It would have the attempt of a Artisan Cutlery logo. This knife has its own logo. Fakes usually have a fake stamping of a name brand. This has no name brand stamping as you can see.

Ok let me ask it a different way, how do you know this wasn't a rip off of Artisan Cutlery?

There are plenty of companies that copy other companies styles including name brand. I did not buy this thinking it was Artisan Cutlery. I bought it because it was very very well made and it was $20.

The screws are different than the ones posted on the Artisan Cutlery website. But they could have made it for someone else as somebody posted earlier. I have been doing knives for around 50 years and I know them very well. Thank You. Kevin

I hate fake knives. Have seen a few of my friends purchase Spyderco and Benchmade thinking they were real only to have me disappoint them!! I hated to do it because some of them had big money in them. I once got a guy his $550 back when he bought a bunch of fake Case xx knives.

Not a fake. A "clone" maybe. A cheap Chinese made copy of a higher end Chinese knife......
Maybe contact Artisan and see what they have to say.

Might do that. Who ever did this knife did it very well. Very smooth flipping action. Very tight lockup. A nice stonewashed blade. The knife is well done.
It could be something they did for someone kind of like Case did for Zippo.
Regardless I will have $20 worth of fun using it. Kevin

Whats the locking mechanism like? That frame design as used by Artisan is a titanium frame lock with a replaceable steel insert. That doesn't look like a frame lock.

Well they also make a cheaper liner lock with D2. The frame locks have s35v or M390.

The only thing I can find in the cheaper Artisan Cutlery is they have G10 handles and this one does not. But if they made it for someone else they would do it a little different and they would not put their name on it. As long as it is not a fake I am not worried. If they had of put Artisan Cutlery on it then we know it is not matching up with any of their regular run. This thing is made very well and better than any clone I have ever seen if it was to be a clone. Maybe someone out there has another knife with this stamping on it. If you do post it here and let us know how it is made. Thanks Kevin

In the end even the real one is only a $50 knife, not sure if it's worth all the effort. I'd contact Artisan to find out what they say before putting a lot of time into research.

I may do it. It has been a fun thread. Because it is not a fake with a fake stamping and is to well done to be a clone of a cheap $50 knife. It has made for a fun thread though 👍 Kevin

No, actually not a $50 knife. Currently large Tomahawks with titanium framelock handles are selling well above $100, some over $200. The knife in question is not an Artisan framelock, and its not any design that Artisan has used in the linerlock versions either. Its probably a cheap copy thats made to look like the expensive titanium framelock.

As I said the G10 models are $50 and are linerlocks. This is a well made liner lock but no G10. I am just glad it is not a fake that is marked Artisan Cutlery because I would not have bought it even for 1 Penny!! The FY that is marked on it has to mean something. We may never know what that is though.
