Which model for CF run?

Scorpius & Dodo...that would look niiiice.
But they really should wait their turn since they just came out ('03 & '04).:D
 
I'd really like to see a Harpy in CF. With a Spyderco bug on the handle. That would be most excellent.

I think the Scorpius would be very nice in CF as well. The Dodo would be awesome too.

I'd also like to see a Calypso Jr in CF

But the Harpy NEEDS to have a sprint run in CF, know what I mean?

There are several models I would like to see done in CF but why not do the next run on a model that has never had any other type scale material.
The Endura has only been made in FRN and SS and the Military has only had black G10.I would think one of those would be best for the next CF run.
 
Yojimbo. That way it would satisfy the folks who want a black handle and would sell more to collectors. Sounds like win-win to me.
 
My CF wish list:

1. Native S30V
2. Calyso Jr.
3. Kopa (I know this does not exist yet but it is on the wish list!)

I am looking out the window for a wishing star!
 
I can't believe nobody has suggested the Persian. It could use an attractive-looking alternative to the slippery-smooth micarta scales.
 
My top choice would be the S30V Native, but not sure if a Golden made CF handled knife is feasible, all to date have been Seki made models. If it could be done, I'd grab one in a heartbeat. I'd love to see a CF Harpy, but given the track record of the plain edge versions in steel and FRN, doubt that a LH-PE-CF version would be considered by Sal and, unfortunately for me, that's the way I'd want mine. A CF Calypso Jr. would be great, but have a hunch that its sales volume in other configurations would make a CF version too risky an investment for Sal. To me, the Endura would be the most reasonable choice, and I know I'd buy one. Then again, I'd buy any front lock model Sal did up in CF as long as a PE lefty or ambi version was available. :D

Hmm, yes, I can see where this model might benefit by CF scales...but I thought the current scales were polished G-10, is that different than micarta?

The scales on the Persian are matte finished micarta, like those on the Shabaria. IMHO it is less slippery than the polished micarta on my Calypso and Calypso Jr. and the polished CF on my Delica and Police and Dragonfly, but more slippery than any of the G10 Spydercos I own. My Persian is in Ron's shop right now, getting retrofitted with what I feel are the most appropriate scales for it, so I can't be absolutely sure on this, but I think that the CF used on the other Spydies I own would be too thin to work on the Persian without doubling it up, adding a spacer between it and the liners, or decreasing the thickness of the bolsters. CF, at least the way Spyderco and most others utilize it in knife handles, offers no advantage that I can see over polished micarta or metal handles from a traction standpoint. Weight yes, "cool factor" yes, and I'd buy one if Sal made it for those reasons, but would not expect it to be less slippery.

With one caveat: drop the flat handle profile and put a nice 1/8" slab of CF on each side and round them around nicely to really make the weave and pattern pop. That would be the best. Would it change the function of the knife and some of the principle behind it? Yep. Would it look AWESOME? Yep! :D
 
I really can't see the need to remake a G-10 scaled knife in to carbon fiber scaled knife--so I would choose from one of the FRN models:

Endura.
Lockback Vesuvius (or Centofante III as I think it's now being called).
Full-sized Calypso.

But best of all:
A carbon fiber, plain-edged, VG-10, MARINER!

2. Paramilitary

Edit: Yojimbo in CF would make it more like the custom version by Snody :D
 
I think if the Starmate is re-issued in almost ANY variant, I'd be badly-tempted...

Great knife.
