Which new Spyderco???

A small regular Sebbie ?!?!?!?

Cool... that's my EDC 80% of the time. The rest of the time gets split between my Sage and one of my Paras.

It'll be interesting to see what you think of the PT compared to the small Sebbie. I've been waiting to handle a PT at Blade next week. From what I hear, it's a tad smaller than the Sebbie with a 2.25" cutting edge compared to nearly 3" cutting edge for the small Sebbie. I do a lot of draw cuts at work and the longer cutting edge is a plus for me.

That being said, my Paras and Millies are still my SHTF knives. My wife and I both carry Paras when we go camping or hiking (she EDC's a small dog paw Sebbie) and my S30V Millie has helped put on an addition, take out a double window, and install set of French doors in my best mate's house.

Dale,

This will be my second Sebbie, my first was a 3 inline CGG. I traded it away because it had the polished finish and basically it was just to pretty to EDC in construction environments. Not that it can't handle the duties, but it would just be to easy to scrap/scratch up the finish, and it can't be refurbished with just a simple bead blast. The one on the way is the basic finish, so I won't be afraid to use it. I pretty much chose it from a durability standpoint, due to the heat treat of the lock surface. I decided to go for overall quality, and refinement, over quantity. I'm not saying Spydies aren't quality, they are, and Spyderco is my favorite knife manufacturer, but the sebbie goes a couple steps further.
This will also be my second PT, which I got in the trade for my Sebbie. IMHO while the PT is smaller, it wins in ergo department. In the hand it feels like the Caly3, the choil and handle design allow an excellent 4 finger grip. You do not have the blade length the sebbie has, but here in Ohio many of the local municipalities have 2.5" blade limits on knives so the PT will be my take anywhere knife. It definitely isn't as refined as the Sebe, but like the Sebbie, it is overbuilt and can take anything you throw at it. I'm an Electrician and don't really need alot of Blade length, and have been pretty satisfied with smaller blades in the 2.5 to 3" range.
The Para, and Caly3 are my favorite Spydies but the Sage has really caught my eye. If my S30V Para gets traded, I will be getting the FG/D2 version very quickly...and maybe the Sage....you can't just buy 1 you have to save on shipping costs :D

Dave...

My EDC Sebbie is a plain one just for the reasons you mentioned. Thanks for the info on the PT. I think it's going to end up a bit small for my usual cutting needs.

Oh well... more $ for new Spydies. I hope the next Sage will be the frame lock version. I've gotten really fond of them since getting our Sebbies. A Sage blade with a frame lock and Ti scales would be really nice.

Good luck on the D2 Para. I got one to go with my D2 Millie since both are sprint runs and I don't know how long they'll be around.
