I think I'll combine all the Bear Paw, Woodchuck, Bushfinger, Bushcrafter votes and put 'em towards the Woodchuck or Bear Paw. ;)

Those were the two I was hoping would win. They're close enough that it'd be easy to extrapolate from one to the other. I'll do a test on those eventually.

Sounds like a plan Nathan. I love the Bear Paw as well. It has made my Kepharts obsolete.

Sounds great! you were reading our woodchuck bear paw minds :)

I'll cut this off at the end of the weekend.

My Bear Paw vote will count towards Hunter.

So we currently have +2 Hunter, +2 Woodsman. Which means as of the time of this post, Hunter is up by 3.

The Hunter is one of my favorite all around blades, but I think that the Woodsman is just a bit more versatile around.the campsite. The pointy blade shape comes in handy for bushcrafting tasks, and the added length allows for options when processing firewood. Either way, Nathan will not find himself under knifed though.

Hey Michael, go ahead and email me your address. I would be more than happy to let you kick the tires on a Kephart.

I kick some tires with your Woodchuck for you ;)! A Bolivian adventure ;)

The Woodsman was my vote, but I do really want to see a full on reveiw of the Woodchuck though. I don't own either of them but they both look like they'd fit the bill.

I think that Nathan (Thurin) did a review of sorts on the Woodchuck. If I get some time, I'll see if I can dig it out.

The incoming votes have wound down so I'm going to call this one good.

And the winner is:

The Hunter

I'm pretty surprised at the outcome. I was thinking the Woodsman would win and was hoping the Woodchuck or Bear Paw would. The Bushcrafter made a late surge.

I've learned a few things for next time (if there is one) that I do a poll like this. Don't include two very similar knives like the Woodchuck and Bear Paw. And don't mix classes. I should have kept it at just the 4.5" and greater blades.

I'm curious which would have won if it was just the Woodsman, Hunter, Bear Paw.

Thanks for the help all. I'm looking forward to using the Hunter on my next trip.

It's been fun to play and fun to watch. But now you get to go have fun outside with an awesome blade (whichever one)! Enjoy!

Michael

Update:

Unfortunately we weren't able to have any fires this trip. So the role the Hunter played is its typical role I use it for every day, a kitchen knife. It did other things like cutting open stuff, but it didn't get used on any wood. So my analysis of the Hunter in a camp knife role will have to wait for another day. I have no doubts, and have used it on wood already, but I want to do this proper.

What a shame! You'll just HAVE to go on another fun trip . . . Poor you! :D
