So I have custom blade being made and everything is now in the initial stage of the build. I have the pattern I want, the steel, handles, hardware etc & sheath. I'm just curious which pattern you would choose. Thanks. I've already chosen and will post pics when I receive it. 051320021.jpg 051320022-2.jpg 051320073.jpg

Unless it will be a showpiece I think the nightmare grind on the bottom one has little to offer for any utility purpose. I prefer the middle one, why ? because I like a conventional look (-:

Definitely the middle one for me. Mainly because the tip is too high on the other two for me. Just talking for general use though.
All the best with whichever one you go with.
I like the drop point as well. It has enough of a point to be useful for everyday tasks, but the drop point means it won't be as likely to accidentally puncture organs when used for cleaning game.

Now if you're anticipating using the knife for more stabbing-type jobs, maybe the top or bottom ones could be considered.

Side note: I don't like the sharp, protruding tang on the heel of the knife. If you need a glass breaker, you're in a bad way and you won't mind using the knife tip, so there's no point in making it uncomfortable the rest of the time.

Top one, I have found that more of the edge is used in that design than the drop point. For me, the belly of the drop point gets used more than the rest of the edge. Less movement of the wrist, more of a slight adjustment when needing to reposition the blade, if that makes any sense. The drop point is excellent for skinning, the straight spine, not so much.

The middle one.

It would suit my needs the best. I like slicey knives with simple grinds.

They all look fantastic though.

Edit: They need a finger guard, if you'll be cleaning game.

What are you planning on using it for? What steel is it, How thick is the blade stock, and will it be hollow ground?

I really like the first one because of the fine tip and long sweeping belly. I would prefer that for an EDC or food prep type knife. The drop point on the second one seems like it'll be a little more robust, if that matters to you.
