#1, absolute never, The Outsider. No way. Barely behind that are my Mad Dog WSP1 somewhat rare ATAK variant and the Folts sword which I WILL finish soon (sigh).

Everything else is subject to change, but not on a whim. When a good megafolder hits market, esp. a REKAT, Camillus or Spydie there'll be some rethinking of carry items going on. Bigtime. HinthintNUDGEwink.

I have a couple:

First, my great-grandfather's Schrade Old-Timer 3 blade (with cool darkened carbon steel.) This one still belongs to my dad. I never met great grandpa Gwinn, but by all accounts he was a good man. He died in 1960 and I have no idea how old this knife is, but it's OLD and it's still a cutter. Dad still carries it on occasion. Can't sell tradition.

Second in line will be the Alan Folts knife I'm getting, once I get it

I named it, it's one of 50, it's my first custom of any kind, and Mr. Folts kinda gave it to me, so how the hell can you sell that? I made his pic the wallpaper on my computer, but that's making me too impatient so I think it'll have to be removed . . . .
Did I mention that the Folts knife is too damn cool to ever sell? That's gotta be a factor.

well i only have one knife not to sell... calypso jr.

but i'll probably never sell it 'cause it was a gift and my first knife.

I would never part with my Gerber A400. It was given to me as a Christmas present by my parents about 20 years ago. They both have since passed away, which makes this knife extra special to me.

Greg Lane (TXLASER) sent me a pic of the one he would never sell. Here it is.

Bartman: you' ve pointed out something worthy of consideration. Because all of my Polkowski mades- the Kasper Pug, the Kasper Companion, the recently acquired Polecat and the soon to be Kasper Scorpion are true hand mades by Al himself (he even does the paperwork and shipping!), I would be VERY hard pressed to let any of these go. Should they become no longer available for whatever reasons, the relatively small quantities of his blades would be difficult to obtain, not to mention the $.

But I carry and train with them because they are very well thought out designed knives. If I had to use the "It feels as if it was made for my hands" cliche, this would be the time.

I don't know about that "Outsider" thing. Looks unwieldy to me. And that point, what good could that be in a fight? I'll tell you what, I've got a United Cutlery copy of a Cold Steel tanto with an edge too wicked sharp for me. I like you, so I'm willing to trade even up. What do you think?

I just recieved the "one I`d never sell". It`s a fully serrated Spyderco Dragonfly I gave to my little sister (11 years my junior) about a year ago. She was working at a big mall at the time and I gave it to her along with a some instruction on how to use it,for those late night walks to her car. Well,Mar.2 she and her best friend were killed in an auto accident,a van crossed the center line...they never had a chance. They died instantly. The knife was returned with her personal effects. It has a little makeup glitter on the handles and one rusty blood spot on the blade. It`ll never cut anything again. I`m keeping it just as it is in a safe place forever. That`s the one I`ll never sell. Marcus

Marcus,

I’m very sorry to hear of your loss, I wish I could offer more then my condolences for the pain you and your family are going through. I lost my nephew two years ago this Memorial Day, he was twenty six at the time and the circumstances were very similar. We were very close. I really do know what you feel.

I have a set of 6 chef's knives that belonged to my grandfather. They were given to him as a gift when he became a professional chef after WWII. I still remember him carving up Thanksgiving dinner with those knives.

Gee..No one ever gives me knives for presents

..Guess they figure I have enough already),DARN, If they only knew..Actually, most of the knives I have are easily replaceable..None with any sentimental value, wish that were not so, but true. I also don't see them as investments. Nothing over $300. Anyway to me they are just tools. I'm sure there are alot of persons out there that feel different. There are alot of knives that are works of art too. I have a rather great collection of guitars and they are all for sale at the right price, But they are not for sale..Does that make sense? I just don't get attached! Oh well my two cents.

I think knife tool.As I can be gotten it again if it is factory made knife.
But,I have three knives I desined. Those were made by japaniese famous forgeing maker Takeshi Sazi.
First;skeleton 6"drop bowie,second;copy of RandallM11-5",and seepfoot blade copy of marbles (now coldsteel)trout&bird.
I desined them,I made their sheath.
I can't part with them.

Eagle, we are very different people. If I ever scrimp and save long enough to buy a $300 knife, it BETTER last a lifetime because there ain't likely to be another one. But I'm still a young pup (turning 21 on the 29th) so maybe there's hope.

everything is for sale$$$$...
Of coarse I wouldn't want to part with my: Spyderco police G-10, flat ground serrated without police etch or my Military or my BM bali-songs.

I learned that my blades are on their way back from ht by Rob Simonich. I felt pretty good when he told me they looked good for my first attempt. I'll finish them and keep the best one and hopefully sell the others. One should keep the first blade they make with their own hands.

Tony

PS - Marcus, I teared-up when I read your post. Peace
