I have and use often the ESEE RC-4 when I head to the mountains hiking and camping.

Good size, not too big and not too small. will do everything I need and then some.

To be honest, you can't go wrong with any one of them. just to be safe you should just buy one of each because god knows in time you will be doing just that! :D

Welcome to ESEE forum.

I use my ESEE-4 the most. It was my first ESEE blade and is still my favorite. Great general purpose knife. Small and light enough I can carry it on my belt comfortably, but strong enough I can baton some firewood, etc. Trust me, you need one.

Welcome! RC-3. Handle to blade ratio is perfect. The thickness is perfect for its length (rc-4 just seems too thick for blade length to me). The thinner stock makes it a great slicer, and it is has plenty of blade and is plenty tough for almost any task you might throw at it.

of the two i own, izula and ESEE3, i use the izula most. i find that its size is great for an all around user. the 3 is fun to use but i dont wanna dirty mine up too much ;)

I have a couple RC-4's, one RC-3 and two Izula's. - Correction, my wife has an RC-4 and one Izula - I only have one RC-4 and one Izula!

I use the Izula the most because it's so small and handy, I usually have it with me.

my most used esee so far is the 5 although my most carried is the 4. when i'm hiking i usually take my bk9 and victorinox trekker with me so i find the esee-4 to be the perfect 'tweener.

as the weather gets warmer i'll end up going fishing more than hiking so the rc-3 will be used more as it's the perfect size for gutting fish for me.

Izula is my most carried/used due to convenience (it drops in a front pocket) and the fact I work in an office.
on the weekends it's a tossup.

:( I only have the RC6... so I use that one :D

In a few days I'll get the RC3 and I'll go with that one for a while :D

I use my Izula most often but probably only because it is the smallest and therefore most likely to be with me. After that it is probably a tie between the 3 and 4.

Plus one on both statements

I always grab the four when headed to the woods.

When headed urban...it's time to choose based on where...usually the ESEE 3MIL now for it's versatility, but sometimes it's the HEST and all are usually accompanied by the Izula :)

I've really enjoyed my RC6 and just ordered a 4. I'm looking forward to working with my new blade..I've heard a lot of good things about the RC4.

RC3mil by FAR! Nice thin blade but tough enough to really do 99% of what I need a blade to do.

Sold my RC4, RC5 and RC6 because honesty between my Izula and RC3, those others never got touched...

It used to be the my RC-3 which I find to be perfectly balanced for me, but currently my EDC is my Izula worn horizonally in the front or in my pocket.

Always have an Izula around, either on a mercharness or inside the top pocket of my pack. An RC 3 or a Mil for heavier work and a RC5 just 'cos!

Witch RAT/ESEE model do you use the most and why do you prefer it?

the one in the pointy hat, with the cat and the broom.

why? candy! :D

actually i don't have one yet. wanting to get an Izula soon and then ... whatever comes my way. a 3, 4 or 6 would be nice.

I've usually got an izzy or hest in my pocket, so they see a lot of day to day action. Even my three sees some time for edc. In the woods this past winter it was always the rc6. Love that blade. Feels perfect, does it all, carries like a dream. This summer it's going to be a crap shoot between the lite, the junglas, and the rest.

If you can only get one, get the six. But the lineup offer some great combos, and evry situation is diffrent. Any are good shtf blades, so taking out one for the days specific tasks isn't going to set you back if things go south.
