We typically ship USPS priority mail and have had very little problem. Lately we have had a number of people want us to ship via Fed EX. I have been shocked by this because FED EX is not very good in my area. Which carrier do you prefer your knives are shipped through or do you not care as long as you get your knife?

USPS then UPS then bicycle courier then carrier pigeon then pony express then leper post then, MAYBE, FedEx if you absolutely have to.

UPS then FedEx then post office last. In my area, the USPS workers are awful. No work ethic. No pride. UPS near me is top notch as is FedEx though.

+1 to the first post.

FedEx is horrible. I won't ever ship anything through them. USPS Priority has treated me well and so has UPS.

Yup. I find USPS to be less expensive and usually a bit quicker, with UPS being more reliable and easier to correct mistakes when they are made, but I'm happy with either. I would rather strap a package to my dog that gets lost trying to come in the patio door than entrust it to FedEx. At least the dog can't lie to me about what happened to it.

I much prefer USPS priority trackable mail. I've had UPS and FedEx leave things on the door step without ever ringing the bell or knocking (I had no idea the item had been delivered). At least USPS will take the package back to the PO and leave a card in your mailbox so things done get stolen. Really dislike UPS and FedEx.

Usually I prefer UPS simply because my local post office is insanely incompetent. Things are even easier for them because I have a PO Box, not a street-mailbox delivery.

However, even when I bring print outs of the tracking from usps.com saying available/ready for pickup, etc...they still cannot find it. I've had more than 6 packages "lost" temporarily between August and today, only to be "found" after 45 minutes of battle with the incompetent Postmaster. It's always the same script...first it went out for delivery then I tell them I haven't had street delivery in over 20 years at my address...then it's not sorted yet then it's out for delivery again, etc...when they realize I am not leaving, then they get off their arse and go look. 45 minutes later it's a miracle! There it is. Right where I said it'd be.

Priority Mail is a great service, just not in my area. Also, my UPS driver has been with us for more than ten years and always rings the bell and leaves it in sensible places should someone not be here to accept it.

USPS for me but the key is probably "Your Area" and it seems a carriers service varies depending on your location.

Bingo!
I will add that if th package is over $150-$200 value, I will often send it signature required unless directly stated that it is not preferred by the purchaser.

I also am starting to like my current mail carrier person ("CMCP" from here on out). That being said, my CMCP isn't as good as the one she replaced. My previous mail carrier knew me by name/address, knew my car, and knew my old neighbors were not to be trusted. He would go so far as to flag me down if he saw me driving home from work or heading out (while in the neighborhood) if I had a package inbound.

The CMCP is learning and trying, but in all honesty, she has a decent way to go. At least the old neighbors are gone...

I seem to receive most of my knives via the USPS and have never had any major problems with them. I do receive packages from UPS and FexEx also and have never had problems with them either. My boxer prefers FedEx because our delivery person gives him a big bone shaped biscuit every time he comes by. Mike

USPS is the most convenient and reliable service for me. UPS and Fed Ex aren't horrible, but they're never my first choice.

USPS is best for me. If they can't leave the package behind my gate I just pick it up at the PO down the street.

UPS, comes second, but I usually have to have it sent to an access point or a UPS store for pick up. The access points are a pretty cool idea but delivery is usually delayed by two to three days as they reroute the package.

Fed Ex packages are a little more difficult for me to get and Fed Ex Ground is absolutely horrible as they'll just leave packages out in the open for anyone to take. I'm not sure how they stay in business.

USPS. The holiday season definitely has effect on their "estimated delivery" times, but they are still my preferred carrier.

USPS has worked well for me.

^ Another vote for the USPS. Four hundred plus knife related transactions on a couple of different forums, without a single mishap. You can't beat 100%!

FWIW: I just about always use signature confirmation, when I'm the seller, & my local USPO, rocks (awesome postal clerks)!
