Which Spyderco are you carrying today?

I worked at Spyderco for a couple of months, they have a HUGE QC department and they randomly check at least 10% of their knives, they take quality very seriously. I have a lot of respect for that company and have multiple knives from them. Don’t work there anymore and have lots of other knives from other makers but was impressed with their attitude.

Throwback Thursday : the first version of the UK Penknife from 2004.

Should be impressive with the 2.5 mm blade!
I expect that also. I already have some of the smaller models. Chaparral, Lil' Native Wharncliffe, Dragonfly 2 Wharncliffe, and McBee.

I have a Bug also, but it's really too small to be very useful to me. The Manbug will arrive Monday and fit nicely between the Dragonfly and McBee. While the Chap was my favorite, I wasn't draw to an SE version of it like I am to the Lil' Native LW. I like the Lil' Native I have, but sometimes find it a bit thick in the pocket. I suspect the new LW will help with that. It will also be the smallest SE in my collection.

Lil' Native . . .a bit thick
That is a big part of what attracts me to it . I only have large size 9 hands but prefer some handle on a knife .
Now if they put a blade in it as thin as the Chaparral . . . well . . . that would be MUCH better for me .
I daily use blades 3.6 inch long and less than 2 mm thick .
I never "ice pick" away at stuff with a knife ; just slice , so all that 3mm plus blade thickness is just lost on me .

PS : carried the Vallatton Sub-Hilt the last couple days (along with my brand new Lil' Native Wharncliffe) , some members here reminded me what a great knife the Sub-Hilt is and that I had one that had not been out in quite a while . . . makes the Lil' Native seem ever so civilized in the pocket .

PPS : Yes you guessed it . Years ago I reground the Sub-Hilt to 2mm at the spine (not including the spider hole) . OOOOH LA LA !

I imagine full steel liners on a Mil2 would be quite heavy, perhaps that's the reason?
They are both military 2. I’m thinking g10 is cheaper than steel so they chiseled back the liners some on that model, the engineers thinking g10 can handle the stress. Just a guess .

I do like the Lil' Native wharncliffe G10 compression lock that I have. The only time I don't is when I try to fit it into the same front pocket holding my wallet. Then, it is a bit thick as I mentioned. In the hand, though, I like it just fine.
