Which Spydie?

Shrug. You can have your opinion, I'll have mine.

They were welded closed for the safety of the trash collection people/dump customers.

Their actions made it impossible for me to associate with them in any way. Period. You don't like that I disappeared them from my life, so you're shitting on me. Do not care.
No, I just think it’s comical that you got Supermad, put on your cape, and torched stuff you’d spent hard earned dollars on.

You mean the spydie thread that's now a BM advert.....

What politics did I specifically mention?

Do you truly know what I'm upset about? Or just suspect? Since I did not specifically mention it, it must have been some controversy for it to be that well assumed.

Poor OP is just trying to find apink knife and 556 guy starts a war??

OP- here’s something to consider. Find whatever spydie you like best that also has readily available Jade/natural g10 scales and get some pink Rit dye and color them yourself. Might end up being easier?

I have been wondering about RIT dye and how to go about it. I know it is big in the firearms world and starting with "desert tan" is the easiest (to dye over) when it comes to Pmags

And no, CO556GUY actually helped me push that temptation out of the corner of my mind. What was I thinking, I swore them off as well. He snatched me out of my moment of confusion and I thank him..... even if he has a poodle shooter rifle in his screen name. We all know 7.62x39 is the man's caliber :D j/k

I am only in the selection phase. Once I know what I am getting, I will wait for the Spydie Store to have it. I prefer to buy directly from them.

So, if I understand correctly- some Lil Natives have lock backs and some have compression, is that correct? Otherwise, my 3" compression lock choices are Sage and PM3 (maybe Chap)?

I wouldn't mind a PM3 to compliment the PM2 I am gonna buy but I can not find Pink scales (preferably micarta). So..... buy "natural" scales (micarta or G10) and dye?

I didn’t know you were anti-Benchmade but I read back and saw that you referred to an “Axis-type” lock. Whatever. I guess it’s called Benchrage, lol.

The Chaparral only comes in back lock.

I’m underwhelmed by the Lil Native. For such a small blade, the blade stock is very thick and it’s an uncharacteristically poor slicer for a Spyderco. I think the handle is too short to properly function the Compression Lock; not enough real estate to comfortably fidget with it.

Your best bet, if you’re sticking with Spyderco, would be a Para 3 Lightweight or the Sage 5. You can probably find someone here at BF to make pink scales for it. Check out Boomer52’s work.

I vote for the pink Delica. The back lock is strong and simple and the knife isn’t too expensive if loss occurs. In addition, it is a good knife in VG10 to eventually learn to sharpen on.

I know the agony through which you are going.
I would think you might pull the information from Kershaw, Ontario and Spyderco and Benchmade.

My first go around had me buying and restoring over 10 Used Victorinox knives in pink for the female relatives.
My next go round was buying and restoring two Cold Steel folders for the twins who were starting college.
Otherwise, the female relatives received "Smith and Wesson" and Kershaw blades for their cars, disregarding colors.

I forget where I bought them. There is a Kershaw distributor who I had inscribe both the knives and the dealer made sheaths with the first names of people to whom I gave . Again, not being concerned with scale colors. If you find the guy, you could get a white sheath with pink lettering.

I know that being a liner lock does not fulfill your criteria of "no fingers crossing the path of the blade for closing it" but I own a RAT2 with pink scales and it works great. And it is cheap also.

How old is the future owner? If you trust her with a knife and other tools... why don't you trust her with a liner/frame lock? She shouldn't have any problem not chopping her fingers off while closing it...

My daugther is almost 7 years old and she is allowed to use fixed blades and folders. However I taught her to ask me how to close them. And if she doesn't have enough finger strength to close them, she has to leave it open and tell me about it.

I think that as long as you don't get her a Cold Steel with a Triadlock you will be fine.

"Benchrage", I LOVE IT!!!! But yea, I have several (including the coveted BM42) and even a PCC. I am not about to throw stuff I paid for (especially the 42) away BUT I won't buy any more AND buying one, for my daughter, while she knows how I feel about BM would send a message that compromising is ok as long as there is really strong WANT. Nah, dude is right and I got distracted by a pretty picture.

Appreciate the hedzup on the Lil Native. Yea, it will be 99.999% a utility knife for slicing cheese, meat (edible not human), opening packages, etc. So a bad slicer is a bad choice. I don't see her prying open doors or batoning logs.

Yea, I think the Para 3 is probably the right option. Kind of a "Dad/Daughter" combo. I will try to find that member you mentioned and see what he can come up with.

Again, thanks for steering me away from the Lil Native. The lack of fidget factor and the blade geometry make it sound almost completely opposite what I am trying to get. PM2/PM3 combo and a Yojumbo it is :)

Thanks but it isn't really a safety issue that is pushing me away from liner locks, frame locks, lock backs, etc. It is more the fun factor. I carried a BM710 (first production knife to have an Axis lock) for 16 years. It is a lot of fun to flip closed. It is also really handy. There have been plenty of times I had work in one hand and my knife in the other - cut, close, pocket, keep on truckin. The whole "path of the blade" was so it could be flipped closed, with less adjustment of grip.
