There was speculation on the podcast that when the Genuine Norlund dies wore out the company was already in its final throws and suffering for lack of sales, they had to save cost anywhere they could.That's pretty interesting. And a really nice collection!
So everything I've seen does lead me to believe they started with genuine norlund and the type stamped on the other side. Later dropping the type, and even later dropping the genuine.
Maybe all that extra stamping costs too much money lol
kinda stands to reason that they first stopped stamping on both sides of the axes, and stopped doing pattern name stamps. Then finally had to do away with the “genuine”.
I’ll pair this with my theory about doing it originally to let people know that indeed it was the same Norlund company they knew. By the time they did away with the genuine stamp it would have been well over 10 years into their production and they would already have name recognition.
