Which super sized emerson??

Murindo- The shorter, stout blade on the 7 is on purpose. I'd have it no other way.

No, I agree with you; put as much blade into a knife handle as possible. But, Ernest designed the CQC7, the way he did, for good reasons........

To expand on this, just a brief comment on the Super CQC-7 and its 'ratio.' I've carried one often for a long time (backspacer model).

I find the generous handle on the Super 7 to be a plus---maybe my favorite feature of the knife. IMO it's like having two different handles:

Regular up-front grip for most things (balance is slightly back in hand); rearward grip with the little finger just off the back, yet still firmly retained in hand (balance now slightly toward the blade) behind the ring finger by the rear downsweep which is nicely jimped. Also, the upper thumb jimping seems to run long for this purpose. This grip gives that "short" blade about another inch of reach yet still superbly balanced and secure in grasp.

I think it was designed for this. Maybe this will clear it up for some of you who have never held the knife. It's a very noticeable, and appreciated feature for me. I swap between the two grips all the time. Not the same with my other Emersons.
