Which Trap for small game??

thats a slick lil trap I will have to try that it looks pretty easily executed....I was wondering is the figure 4 as hard as I am making it or is there a trick to it? I have not been able to make the notches fit exact or somethin.

Sorry barrabas74,

Didn't notice your post before. The figure 4 should not be that difficult to make. I have seen some drawings that make the notches square, like short little channels, is that what you're doing? Because if so, it takes an elephant to trip them, but then again, maybe you're in elephant country.

Can you post any pictures or make diagrams showing where you're having the problems, and perhaps we can help you?

:) Doc :)

As I posted earlier I am a Paite deadfull fan... but I have to say after seeing Alan's trap and following the instructions in Wilderness Way on the Promontory Peg, it doesn't get much simpler. I need practice, but I like. Thanks guys. Good thread.

But I have to ask, what is the Arapuca?

Duh! I have gone back to this thread multiple times starting on page 2. Thanks.

Still very hard to discern from the pictures and desciption ("clear as mud"). Obviously I am slow these days.

Quiet Bear,

I am working on a data base of traps, snares, and triggers and I am saving them as a Jpeg to reduce storage needs, so try this:
Arapucabirdtrap.jpg

The one on the left is a top view and the one on the right is a side view. (I guess that's kind of obvious :o ) A couple of weeks ago, a buddy and I were trying out a few new (to us) triggers, Arapuca included. It really worked well.

Thanks. That helps a lot.

Have you read John and Geri McPerson's Wilderness Living & Survival Skills?

Good info on triggers and some variations on traps.
