  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Which Victorinox ?

Talking 'bout taking something for granted... I almost forgot to mention the knife I always have with me, my most used knife atm; Victorinox Classic.

I have one with the stay glow scales on my keys and that little knife is amazing!

The Fieldmaster is my favorite followed closely by the huntsman. The perfect sak imho. Some others that I really like are the super tinker, recruit and the plain trekker.

I only have a trekker and its awesome.. a wood saw is a must have for me, i just wish it was a 1 hand trekker, some situation are tricky when 1 hand is busy and you need to open it..

They should add an option on the vic website to scan knives with 1 hand opening blade.. or maybe i missed that somewhere. One option i dont want to bring but would be usefull is the magnifying glass to start fire with when you have sunshine..

I have some experience over the years of being an independent vendor / merchant (but not of knives). My favorites aside, if I was stocking a store I would start with no more than a dozen models. No one can carry everything and it is best to start with the common. So in no particular order here is what I would buy for stock. (Again not personal favorites but my idea of what sells)

Victorinox:
Classic SD - get a few different colors/textures
1 other 58mm - Rally, Rambler, and/or Midnight Manager
Camper - IMHO the most popular Vic SAK
Climber - Camper replace saw with scissors
Rucksack - Larger lockblade Camper
Farmer -very popular
Swisschamp - for those that are looking for everything
Soldier - for those that want the real Swiss Army knife
BSA logoed SAKS - at least one model, maybe two models, different ones than you are already stocking. This way you target Scouts, their parents and get more models for everyone else.
Swisstool - for those looking for a multi

Wenger:
Standard Issue - for those that want a "genuine" swiss army knife
Evogrip - at least one model (I would suggest either the 16 or 18.)

I know that on an order sheet there is more than 12 models included but hey,I cheat. Few of my current favorites or EDC made the list but this would be my purchase order. Hopefully you could expand your model line after a lot of initial success.

P.S. Smartknives is a SAK sight that lists knives by popularity based on those left at TSA checkpoints. You get a different list going that route.

P.P.S. Thanks for asking the question. It gave us a chance to not only stump for our favorite pattern but also got me thinking about mass market SAK appeal. Because if you are selling to the general public, your inventory should probably be different than if you are selling to SAK-aholics.

Thanks for all the insight you guys . I hope to make my first order in the next week and will be offering free shipping for customers in the U.S.A. Overseas customers will get a free Arkansas stone.
Thanks again
Paul

forgot to mention their kitchen utility knives and their dining flatware.

my folks have the flatware as their everyday silverware. good stuff, wish i could find it here for a reasonable price.

Without doubt, the Swiss Champ, but I may be biased, having carried a current version for thirty five years!

Huntsman is my best friend, scissors and minisaw are big pluses.
Cybertool (the smaller one, not the huge one) is great since it comes with a small set of Hex head drivers
