Which Would You Rather Have...1 Case Or 5 Rough Riders?

I'm very picky on the new Case knives I will buy. I stick to the models that seem very consistent. Both SBJs have been perfect as well as the backpocket series.

Both are Tony Bose designs. The TB/Case collaborations are about the only Cases I'd feel confident buying online without some apprehension of getting a "lemon".

If I could pick any knife from case or any 5 knives from RR, I'd buy a Tony Bose/Case, I don't have anything against RR but the F&F on the Bose/Case knives are always far superior and like was mentioned earlier, ya can only use one at a time.

Case in a heartbeat. I own several and have had no problems. Only U.S.A. made goes in my pockets and Case is what I like. Then again different strokes for different folks. Buy what you like and can afford, as long as you have a sharp knife in your pocket life is good.

I carried a RR canoe pattern today.
I like Case and thought if I liked the pattern, feel, and use I would up grade to a Case, but it's been 6 months and I still haven't gotten a Case, Yet.

I'd probably choose Case (if I could pick the one), but I've had excellent luck with my Rough Riders, as well as Case. I like them both. Chrome Vanadium and Yellow Delrin keeps me a Case fan. The price point with the RR's keeps me coming back to them. If you want exceptional F&F, go with a GEC, it'll cost more, and it isn't exactly a value oriented company, but at the end of the day it'll still be put together better IMHO.

I also would choose the Case simply because I don't need five Rough Riders for any reason. Choice between two average Case folders and one GEC of my choice, I'd take the GEC.

All this talk about modern Cases is giving me goosebumps. I have just ordered a Case trapper, under the impression that only a tiny minority of their current offerings had QC issues. Because of my own faults and prejudices, I did not even consider the RRs.

I am all for supporting American workers, but when you put Case in perspective of how many patterns they make versus the TecX line, Case makes half their knives overseas. How does this justify supporting American workers when a line of knives is being funded to make overseas? I'm just brainstorming. I buy overseas knives. I will also by American provided that the product is not made by politically correct globs of apathy. If Americans are being apathetic with quality because they are just there for a paycheck and we fund overseas lines of knives by purchasing American then it's a lost cause.

I haven't been paying attention to the Case line of late. How can you easily distinguish between the USA made versus imported (I assume Chinese made) knives?

I haven't been happy with my case knives. The fit and finish was pretty bad, and they aren't cheap for the bad quality.
5 Rough Riders.

Rough riders are alright but i'll take a Case anyday, ive got more than a few and no issues to worry about!
My edc since 2008 has been a Case Yellow CV medium Stockman, hands down my favorite knife, followed by My CV large stockman and a yeller soddie
I carry other brands but will always have that medium stockman on me
rough riders are a good buy, just cant get myself to carry one

case. i own both brands. case steel is a bit better, imho. my sodbuster cv holds a pretty good edge trimming bushes in the front of my workplace to tidy them up. my rr do not make it to the end, without more sharpening.

that said even my case sodbuster has terrible fit and finish. blade is jammed on one side of the liners, and a weakish backspring...but i prefer the cv over the 440a, or 8cr13mov or whatever chinese steel is used in my rr.

I like to look over Case knives before I buy them. Finding a good one isn't hard, but one that's a little off isn't so hard to find either. Someone described Case as the Beanie Baby of pocket knives. I kind of agree. They make a few patterns but mostly stainless steel and offer all kinds of bone covers in wild colors. Not really my thing. They do have good customer service though. I would love a Large Case Stockman in CV and Chestnut Bone.

I have one RR and it's a fair knife. Fit and finish is fine, but they are a little bland in the details. I don't get too excited about them.

I'd likely take the Case.

Some of the best $35 I've ever spent

Between the two, Case, because it is USA made. I own one Case knife. It is pricy and quality is so-so. I'm not really in a hurry to buy Case again.
