Whips

Hmmm...I may have to put off that ESEE 4 a while longer and get me one of them, depending on how much it'd cost me...You have any kind of order page, do you just take email orders...?

It's not that I don't appreciate the interest, but in the future if anyone has questions regarding prices, ordering, or anything of that nature please send them to steph@whitenorthwhips.com or shoot me a PM
There is a website in the works, but there's just a homepage up at the moment

This isn't the exchange section and this kind of talk may get me in some trouble if it continues on in this part of the forum. I had a previous thread locked because of this kind of thing.

If you guys have any comments/questions about building, using, maintaining or anything else on whips or other paracord braided stuff please feel free to post 'em up here and I'll be happy to answer :D

Those are really cool looking, but how well do they work?

I would say very well, but I suppose my opinion is a little biased :D

Here's one I just tied, keep in mind I'm no pro whip cracker and this whip is still pretty stiff. After breaking in they are even easier to get a crack out of

and here are some reviews that others have done if you're interested.

I'm impressed with anyone that can make whips. I made 4 paracord whips a while back and the term arthritic comes to mind. My hands hurt so bad after a whip it just didn't seem worth it. I learned and practiced with 10ft whips, so that is what I made. But, I will admit, yours look nicer that the ones I did.

if anyone would like to give whip making a shot here's a tutorial.

this is not the method that I use, but I have tried it and it will make a working whip. The thing with a few of the tutorials I've seen, is that they assume you know how to plait ( pronounced "platt" or "plate" , I use both ) . I filmed a video that shows me going through the steps on a 12 plait belly, but the method can be applied to plaiting any number of strands.

ssssnake whip

pretty much the same as a bullwhip, just without the solid handle. No solid handle means you can coil it up real tight and slip it into a hoodie pocket, or maybe some cargo pants. A lot of folks used to carry short snake whips in areas where saps/blackjacks were illegal, a snake whip was not. Being lead loaded at the butt (this one also has a 1.5" long section of 3/8 steel spike under the knot as well) meant this would perform great as a sap, and gave the added bonus of a little extra reach and the thong can also be used for trapping/blocking limbs.

Anothony DeLongis is pretty much the go-to-guy when it comes to whip instruction (as well as other martial arts and weapons) he was the one who trained Harrison Ford in the Indy movies, as well as Michell Pfieffer (sp?) for her role as catwoman.

here's a video where he displays a little of his skills and explains some of the technical aspects of the whip, as well as some self defense type stuff with it. I think he's at the Alamo in this clip

The hambone at the beginning of the clip is Jack Dagger, the King of Fling, AKA Todd Abrams....pretty good whip thrower himself

This looks interresting..
I have got one 8feet nylon bullwhip I bought some years ago and it has held up quite good for irregular use and abuse. Have thought about buying some more in diffrent lengths but seeing how you make them makes me want to give it a try at making them. Thanks for the video.

I was at the Inosanto Academy when Anthony did some whip demos and seminars. I never got into it but I should have, since I'm not in the area anymore. He's not only incredibly talented but a very patient instructor.

this one's off to Germany. The gentleman asked if I could make it look like the one Anthony Hopkins uses in the Mask of Zorro.

finished up a couple more. One's a 5 foot snake whip and the other is a Beast, 7 feet long in 20 plait

I won this White North whip on *another forum* I can vouch for the quality.

thanks Squishware :) How's it holding up, I was afraid that silver color would get dirty really fast?
