Thanks kindly. Some call it french ivory celluloid. There are faint striations which preclude me from calling it acrylic.
Hopefully others can help.

May I ask if your buck scales was finished by one of our forum wizards or you?
The Buck scales were as original, as far as I recall, never been touched. Sold that one about a year or so ago, it was early 1980's.

I know it as "Ivoroid” — often used as binding on acoustic instruments, as well.
- there's another material too, known by the name, Casein...........derived from milk protein.

I bought loads of it some years ago and took with me to South Africa so some of their makers could use it as faux ivory and legitimately sell to UK and USA.

Here's one I had made, a traditional full size Loveless dagger...

- yes, Sharon Burger is amazing.
Took her and her dear Dad, lovely fella (Willie Burger RIP) out to dinner some years ago when we were all at the Durban Easter Knife Show. I was recommended to Sharon by my dear friend Steven65 Steven65 , she has completed some wonderful work.
Knife by Neill Schutte - amazing young SAfrican maker who has now moved down-under to NZ I believe.

............very elegant, Will - a beaut

Will Power Will Power
Many thanks, your Leopard dagger is the cat's miaow 😻

The F-P has yellowed nicely too, opted for crocus (polished) finish on the blade and this was a mistake, fingerprint hell  So in time sanded it and gave it the glaze finish on the blade, much more practical.

May your New Year be bright & right for you
