White Mountain Knives

I have purchased 4 knives from WMK and received them quick with no issues that were his fault and I also get a 10% discount by putting LTK in the coupon box at checkout. LTK stands for the YouTube channel Love Them Knives. He tests knives, not by cutting tests, but by doing Rockwell C scale hardness tests (boy there were some surprises there) and even has a metallurgist who not only does the hardness checks, but also has an XRF analyzer that measures the metals in the knives. Plenty of bad surprises there like I bought a Bear Ops Rancor advertised as S30V, but it only has 0.14% vanadium instead of 4%. The metallurgist that does the testing for him guessed it's between 6Cr to 8Cr Chinesium steel, x ray fluorescence cannot measure lighter elements like carbon or nitrogen. To measure those you need a laser spectrograph analyzer and those are considerably more expensive than an XRF Analyzer gun.

BTW White Mountain Knives doesn't carry Bear and Son products. I really hate that an American company literally cheats its customers by selling made in China knives or knife steel and calling it CPM S30V. At least try to fool me by heat treating it to HRC 62, that blade was so soft I knew something was wrong! I figured they must have really burned the edge when the sharpened it, but after taking off a bunch of the edge it was still soft and then I saw that video. Knife Center and Blade HQ still sell that Bear Ops S30V Rancor made out of Chinese steel. I now only buy from White Mountain.
Here is a link to that video.

I gotta pile on here and also praise Justin for being such a good guy overall.
My only gripe is he has trouble keeping stuff in stock. Understandable as he’s one of the few dealers that constantly beats his competition almost every time with his 10% off pricing.
I had better luck finding all I wanted before everyone else found out about him…dammit ;-)

As already stated in this thread, it has become difficult to have such quality of service nowadays. I recently had bad experiences with a small knife company and an aftermarket scales seller, and it just makes me keep guys like Justin in even higher regard.
