White out for decarb protection

Dan, I dipped a small piece and looked at the thickness of the coating and decided that it was thicker than I would need so I have not tried hardening a blade that was dipped. I have put it on a 1095 blade with a paint brush and got a hamon just from the little extra bit that the corners of the brush leave. this was quenched in water from a ten minute soak at 1450 degrees into 120 degree water.

I wonder if we dip and then paint the edges thinner if would do it,
the flats and spine should IMO be a tad softer anyway but I wonder if it will catch enough quench in the thicker parts., I'll mess with it some to see what happens..
