Who Bass Fishes?

I have been on the forums for a little oveer a year now and to me, i have not seen a big following for bass fishing. So my question is, who bass fishes and it would be cool to name your main reel that you use. Also i have had high quaility reels for sale at great prices and none had interest which led me to believe no one here is a big bass fisher.

I still do a bit of bass fishing, but not as much as I used to. The fishing here just isn't amazing, and it's more fun catching a fat catfish than a little 12 inch largemouth. Still do get into some decent bass from time to time, and it's just as fun as it ever was. Last fall I got into some tiny smallies on the missouri river, which was a bit of a surprise and a lot of fun.

My bass fishing equipment is pretty dang cheap but seems to work well enough. Have a couple reasonably nice rods from Scheels (IM7 graphite I think) but my reels are just Pfleuger Presidents. They seem to do just fine, though.

I bass fishes! :D I fish the lake I grew up on and my folks still live there. The bass fishing is great, especially in the fall. I eat 'em too. A lot of people in Minnesota here get real snooty about going after walleye only, but I think fishing largemouth is way more exciting. I caught this 5 pounder last October on my Pflueger Patriarch spinning reel, G. Loomis rod with Power Pro Hi-Vis 6lb. line. I was casting an old tried-and-true Bass-O_reno.

I like all fishing but bass fishing especially. Since my parents bought a cabin in the mountains near the headwaters of the Allegheny River I have done lots of fishing there, catching mostly smallmouth in all sizes from 6" to my biggest at almost 6 pounds. My main setup is a shimano sedona 2500 with 8 lb line on a ugly stik lite. That does pretty good with most fish I've caught and added a little excitement fighting the couple musky I have hooked into. I don't think I have any pictures unfortunately.

I do. I am following in the footsteps of my father, with fishing, that POS... Anyways, here in Ga, Bass fishing is a staple. My setup is a Berkley Lightning Rod 7ft. and a Bass Pro BionicPlus. I use a lot of lipless cranks, chatterbait(for the big ones), and frogs some times. I have never bothered with worms and rigs.

I do quite a bit of bass fishing. As far as equipment goes I have a much worse addiction to fishing gear than I do knives. I was bitten by the hard to find / source JDM rods and reels from Daiwa and Shimano and have accumulated 12 deferent hog end combos to this point.

I love bass fishing, but really any kind of fishing. Just happy to be on the water catching fish. I don't have a ton of money to spend on high priced fishing gear (especially with my recent knife addiction) so I get by doing most of my bass fishing recently with an Abu Garcia Vengeance rod with a Quantum Nitrous baitcasting reel. It works well enough for the fishing I do.

Recently most of my fishing has involved chasing smallmouth bass in the local river (more like creek). For that I have a 5'6" Pflueger President light action combo that works really well. The biggest Smallmouth I have managed to get is about 14" but those fish know how to fight!

I like to bass fish.
Partial to Ambassadeur reels and the past couple of years Berkley Shock Lightning rods.
30lb Suffix braid on them both.

My bass fishing is mostly limited to smallmouth due to where i live. I love catching those scrappy buggers though, and my best is 4.5lbs. Right now my gear consists of my two main reals, a Pflueger Patriarch, and a Quantum Energy PTi. The Patriarch is by far the nicest real i have ever used and still as smooth as the day i bought it. I have changed rods a few times but have now settled on Powel as my main rods. Their Diesel line is under 70 bucks and is by far the best value in budget rods out there IMO. I have not seen any of your reels posted for sale but maybe i just dont know where to look.

I love bass fishing also. I much prefer smallmouths on a fly rod these days but also use bait casters. If others are like me they have enough rods to last a lifetime. Check out some of our pics in the fish pic thread

I love to bass fish, I went today as a matter of fact. I, like Wiscobassin, care more about new tackle than new knives. I mostly fish for Largemouth and "Coosa River" spotted bass. I have way to much tackle to narrow it down to one or two reels and rods. The "set" of rods that get used the most are my Powell Max series rods. I have 5 different rods in this series, 4 casting and 1 spinning. I have a 7105 flip/punch rod, a 735 frog rod, a 703 all purpose rod, a 706 crankbait rod, and a 683 spinning rod. I have Shimano Citica E 201's on the casting rods and a Shimano Symetre 3000FJ on my spinning rod. These are the rods that see the most time but I have lots of other more expensive tackle I sometimes fish as well. Here's a crap cell pic of the Powell gang.

Some of my other reels; Shimano Calais DC 201, Calcutta TE DC 201, Stella 3000FD, Curado DHSV 201, Curado 51E, Curado 301E, Scorpion MG 1001, 2 Chronarch 101A's, Chronarch B 101.

You get the idea, I don't want to clog up your thread. I have lots of other rods as well mostly Shimano's and GLoomis. I started a thread sometimes last year for gear and fish pics so as hunterjrg suggested you should have a look. Also post some pics of your gear.

Whats a bass?

Looks like a regular guitar, but only has 4 strings :)

2 years ago it was the summer of the scum frog, aka Kermit.
Last year it was the summer of the swim bait.
I'm going to try to make this summer the summer of the fly rod.

Lamson reels have been my favorite for a few years now. What weight rods are you using?

I mainly large mouth fish small lakes/ponds. My favorite reel is an Abu Garcia Revo SX. I also fly fish a bit, I have a Lamson Konic reel that suits me. I haven't bought any new gear in two years due to my knife obsession. I have everything I need but a boat. Looking to get one of these eventually, http://gulffishing.com/carolina_elec_boat.html It is like a zero turn mower, but boat style.
