Who Bass Fishes?

I bass fish quite a bit. Large and small mouth as well as stripers when they run the Hudson river here in NY. For lake and pond fishing I have Gander Mt. GSX- titanium rods in light and medium heavy action, I have Gander spinning reels on them (from a price:quality stand point they're a great deal). I've caught some good bass in the last couple years, a few 5-6lbers and a couple 8lbers.

I love to bass fish, I went today as a matter of fact. I, like Wiscobassin, care more about new tackle than new knives. I mostly fish for Largemouth and "Coosa River" spotted bass. I have way to much tackle to narrow it down to one or two reels and rods. The "set" of rods that get used the most are my Powell Max series rods. I have 5 different rods in this series, 4 casting and 1 spinning. I have a 7105 flip/punch rod, a 735 frog rod, a 703 all purpose rod, a 706 crankbait rod, and a 683 spinning rod. I have Shimano Citica E 201's on the casting rods and a Shimano Symetre 3000FJ on my spinning rod. These are the rods that see the most time but I have lots of other more expensive tackle I sometimes fish as well. Here's a crap cell pic of the Powell gang.

You get the idea, I don't want to clog up your thread. I have lots of other rods as well mostly Shimano's and GLoomis. I started a thread sometimes last year for gear and fish pics so as hunterjrg suggested you should have a look. Also post some pics of your gear.

A fellow Lefty!! Im going to go out on a limb and say you are a member over on the TT forums also.

I love to bass fish! in my lake you're just as likely to have a channel cat suck your rig clear down its gut or foul hook a turtle though.....

I snagged a huge snapping turtle once.
Was convinced that I had the world record on the line.
That was about when I found out that that pond had snapping turtles in it.
About the size of a small bbq grill too :)

Fairly new to fishing, but mostly go for largemouth.

I use a Shimano Sahara and Pflueger President

I grew up in Texas about an hour away from Lake Fork (anyone who knows big bass lakes knows this one). Bass fishing has always been my favorite type of fishing unlike my wife who prefers a cork and worm for anything that will pull it under. My favorite rods and reels are Shimano. My go to set up is a 6.5 foot medium heavy Shimano V-Rod with a Curado reel on it spooled up with 15 lb Fireline, and its spinning cousing a 6.5 foot medium action V-Rod with a Shimano Stradic reel spooled up with 8lb Stren Flurocarbon line. I have found with these two rods I can easily fish anywhere in Ohio (where I live now) and catch just about any smallmouth, largemouth, or anything else that locks its mouth around what ever lure I may be tossing at the time.

All this talk about bass fishing is making me really wish winter would hurry up and end so the spawn will get under way.

Yeah even the small ones pull like a freight train! I have a picture somewhere of my neighbor with one that was hangin over both sides of an S-10 pickup bed  Havent seen one that size in my lifetime though

Bass fishing is my favorite by far. I had a nice lake boat for a good ten year stretch and spent much time on Lake Erie chasing smallmouth. Some trolling, usually to find fish and establish the pattern for the day, then a lot of drifting with casting and jigging. The Erie fishery is/was awesome, pretty much spoiled me.

I bass fish! :D im looking to buy a few reels, was wondering if anyone could help me out. Im looking for a shimano curado 51e, shimano core 51mg, shimano scorpion 1001xt or 1501xt, shimano stradic ci4 2500 or 3000. Any have any GOOD deals for me?

As you can see from my Avatar picture, I love to Bass fish as well. Got that bad boy fall of 2011.

I just checked out most of those reels at the sporting good store and although I am a huge Shimano fan, they all felt like crap. I bought a Pflugger that was half the price and felt 100% better. The others had a metallic grinding sound when you reeled up. The Pflugger felt like butter. The reels I was looking at had 10 or more bearings and were mid sized reels, I bought the Pflugger President 6930. I believe the Cabela's Prodigy is the same reel, made by Pflugger and is on sale.

I like bass fishing, we got into the largemouth in northern MN last summer-

I really like smallmouth bass fishing even more than largemouth! Here is one from Boundary Waters Canoe Area

Love to fish, any fish. Bass are kind of low on my list, but being stuck with mostly freshwater fishing these days i do catch a lot of bass. These days its mostly smallmouth. I moved a little over a year ago and left a great smallmouth river that I fished very often. Today I go for pike and pickerel as the target of choice.

I am a smallmouth hunting fool. Anything will suffice, but the golden sheen of a big ole' smallmouth bass is what I seek. My go to setup is an older model Shimano Curado on an All Star TWS rod. I do not have any recent pictures to show, but might be able to dig up some from when I was a young lad...... REALLY young lad!!
