Who bought their own X-mas knife?

I buy knives during the year when I find really good deals. I tend to tuck them in a drawer and neglect them until Christmas Eve. Then I get them out and tuck them in my Xmas stocking. This makes matters easier for Mrs Claus. She does much the same with costume jewelry during the year. The Christmas expenses are reduced since we get things at steep discounts this way, the spike in Christmas expenses is also spread out over the year, the Christmas shopping crunch is reduced, we get things we really like, and best of all nobody gets upset when people buy themselves presents during the year. It is fun to buy yourself things with a clear conscience whenever you find a great deal.

bought my first SAK........a super tinker.

i cant believe i gone all these years w/o a SAK!!

looks like i found a new addiction.....just ordered a GAK only 2 weeks after my first SAK

is it possible to be a SAKaholic? :)

I bought one that I've always put off buying in favor of other knives - a Spyderco Endura FRN Plain Edge. It's the only knife present I received and I had to buy it myself. :( But I bought it! :)

A little before Christmas I got a Ka-Bar Dozier Folding Hunter (sharp as all hell) and soon a Hinderer Firetac will be on its way to me. My relatives who know I like knives but wouldn't buy me one because they wouldn't know what to get did all right though, they got me 2 knife books.

Anxiously awaiting my Buck Strider Tarani Police Utility Knife, model 882SBT. Almost went with the SBTG, which features the G10 handle material instead of this "TACCOM" glass-reinforced nylon stuff, but I figure neither will fail on me since I got it for EDC and I don't plan to fight with oil in my hands. For an extra $30, I'd rather save my $ to put into the knives I will be buying 2 friends whos b-days are in January. I'm thinking of getting the SBMF for at least one of them, but I'm wondering how the 420HC holds up compared with the ATS-34. I've been told that Buck's heat treating for 420HC is very very good, but I suspect the edge retention is nowhere near the Bos ATS-34. Any feedback on that is very appreciated. Also, anyone ever had either a Strider or Buck Strider locking mechanism fail on them? Thanks and Happy New Year!

Eh, got a Buck 110. Everyone says that you can get em cheap, but in OR I can't find one for less than $37 :grumpy:

Since I knew I would get either no knives or a POS knife, I did buy myself one knife. I bought a Fehrman Thru Hiker. Cool knife.

Hi everyone,
My first post and first quality knife ! I just purchased a Rat Trap with my xmas money ! Can't wait....................this is an excellent forum with lots of great information !:)

Sort of. I bought my wife (she asked for one, for hiking) a CS SanMai Trailmaster. Nice blade. So I get to see and use it too.

I did get me a gun tho. A S&W .460Mag. Even let my wife shoot it, but that's another story for another forum. :D

Just got mine. It's a Duane Dwyer Custom SnG Chisel Ground Drop Point with Coyote Brown handle with the US Flag on it. Schweet.

Well I've been in a SAK mood lately, so I ordered around a dozen new ones. Lots of alox (Cadet, Cadet II, Pioneer Settler, Pioneer Apprentice), a Matterhorn Climber, two SOSAK 2005 knives, a wood handled Wenger SAK and a few more Vics.

Got them from Tim at www.sosakonline.com he's a great guy to deal with and all the money goes to charity.

Do you have one of the new Solos yet? They have the nylon handle slabs that were used for the old German army knives, but red instead of green and a cross instead of an eagle. Slightly larger than a regular Solo.
