Who can tell me if this is fake - Strider SMF

Hey guys, so I got my first strider today and as I handled it for a little bit I just knew something was wrong. So I did some google searching and found YouTube videos comparing fakes to the real thing and discovered that the Strider symbol on this knife is just not right. It has 5 terribly shaped leaves on each side of the sword when it should have 6 that aren't connected by a circle. It also just feels real flimsy and not of the quality I would come to expect from Strider.

Please let me know if I'm on the right track here.

Also the handle and blade on the sword are wrong, they're too thick. The stop pins are coated in black like the blade where as the real Striders aren't.

I dunno; it looks like legit DGG 3/4 grind SMF to me... :foot:

Did you get it from a reputable source?

Also, if you don't like it I'd gladly give it a new home LOL.

It looks like it's an older Strider, mine is the aluminum handled SMF. Logo looks the same to me.

Nice knife Ajack60; I had the same knife but the blade was polished.... Miss it dearly.

Looks real. If you scan all the available fakes on Ali Baba or the other counter-fitting marketplace sites, you don't come across any with the 3/4th's grind and black oxide (at least I haven't come across any).

The fakes have a hard time replicating Striders Black Oxide and your BO looks right.

That is a lot of mill work for a fake. I don't think anyone would take the time to fake a high detail piece.
Sorry I'm wrong though.

Looks real to me too.

The older ones had less 'quality control' than the newer ones. If it doesn't feel tight like you expect, you might have to send it in to Strider.

I dunno guys, this thing just doesn't feel like the DDG SMF I payed with that my buddy got from BladeHQ. It just doesn't have the same lockup and feel like it's the right quality.

More close up detail pics of both sides of the blade would help verify; what's the blade steel btw?

Any SMF I've had has the type of steel used stamped below that Strider logo...other than that it looks good from what I can see. I'd contact Strider if you bought it from one of their dealers and have them take a look at the pics.

That's where I was going with my last post but I also believe there's older one's that weren't stamped. :foot::confused::eek:

OPs knife is probably broken in and his buddies knife is newer with a tighter pivot. Would feel different if you didn't know about break in of theses knives.
