OK, I'm still at work, I'm bored. Who carries a knife mainly for self
defense. I don't except at night while walking my dog. But hope I never have too. My wife and I don't go out a night much, but some times I just carry my Glock 26. Yes I have a permit.

I carry one (of my pair) of Al Mar SERE 2000 (and sometimes my Cold Steel Vaquero Grande) as a defensive/offensive knife as back-up to my Glock model 20 (10mm) pistol.

The older I get the more I have been thinking of self defense...I carry a Strider SNG or a Rainbow Leek, depending on where I am going...

A knife is not my primary means of self-defense. However, I always carry a knife and I prefer models that can serve multiple functions including self-defense.

My normal carry includes a handgun, a knife, pepper spray, and a kubotan. :)

Like Bob Q, I carry a variety of SD implements. The knife is definitely not my "go to" weapon but rather another option that I give myself.

I normally have to go for subtlety, so I've taken to a waved Endura in the front pocket and a CRKT Bearclaw in some position (neck, belt, or another pocket depending on circumstances) which will be replaced soon by a Hideaway. I rotate other knives I have into and out of my configuration based on what I'm going to be doing that day.

I always carry at least one knife specifically for self defense. I do not have a concealed handgun permit so, knives are it for now. Plus, I always carry a knife for utility.

I carry my Cold Steel Recon 1 (tanto point, plain edge) strictly for self-defense, until I buy a Cuda Maxx. I also carry a Mini-Maglite for situations where non-lethal force would be required.

Never caught out without at least one self defense folder/blade and usually two though the second will be backup deep cover but easily accessable to either hand [ around the neck ].

Usually, lately, the Sng Strider and the LaGriffe Neck knife. Today I put the Strider up on the waist, carried the Military on the pocket and the LaGriffe.

My work knife for all else is a swiss army hiker used a dozen times a day for the chores in life.

i carry a blackjack model 5 sub-hilt along with my canemasters master series cane, tung oil finish and red crystal eyes

I carry primarily for utility, but if I absolutely had to, I'd use it for SD. Hopefully that never happens though.

I generally prefer tactical knives because I think they tend to be much more comfortable in general. And when I do go out late I sometimes carry a knife and sometimes I don't. It just depends on how I'm feeling, and if I remember to stick one in my pants.

Hey you too:D I don't carry mine as much as I used to, mainly switched to smaller or more easily concealed things like a balisong.

carry a kahr P9 9MM, emerson P-Tac for SD and a spyderco delica SE for utility, along w/a SF E2e and cap stun, a great combo imho

I walk with a Canemasters Triple Grip, which makes a knife for SD sort of beside the point, but ... I started carrying my large tanto Sebenza at night, just in case. Then I started carrying it during the day, too. I used to like my smaller knives for EDC!

Got to be strictly last-ditch. I don't see a knife as a really effective defensive weapon without serious training. The aftermath will probably be messy. But going without is irresponsible.

As a holder of a concealed pistol carry license in the state of Michigan, I no longer carry a knife for self-defense. Anything big and bad enough for serious knife fighting would cost me, if caught with it, my license, which does not cover anything but handguns. This frees me up to carry a very nice, classy or useful knife, one that won't get me arrested if I deploy it in public.

Besides, 'never carry a knife to a gunfight'.

Based on the one real knife fight I have seen in my life (in Vietnam, between two soldiers), it is nothing I want any part of.
