Who did it?

I think I have this knife mint in box in my son's safe ... I'll have to check. If I recall, mine was a small run by a knife dealer several years ago. Regardless, it certainly is a cool variation.

Now that would be great to see! I would love any more information you may have.

I am just guessing, but from your description, you may be talking about one of the LDC's which were made for Les Robertson

Looking forward to hearing how this mystery ends

Hrmm..

Did CRK do the grooves on that particular benza? Not that it wasn't someone like Les who had a similar run many years ago..but I thought they were numbered..
I have a very vague recollection of there being another machinist on the boards many years ago that did something like that to his knife.

Bill, please track that postal carrier down, we are dying over here my friend.

Well everyone thanks for your intrest. I would like to take the "long way around the barn" to make the story more interesting but, it is not that long. The blade as I said was not done by CRK's ( I knew that) the groves were also done after leaving CR's shop. :-( that is not to say they are not nicely done, they are. They could not reblast the scales and who ever did the polishing and anodizing altered the specs of the scales. I am not crazy about the polishing and anodizing but not sure if anyone can reblast the scales. All that said I have a wonderful Lg. Regular Sebenza from Feb. 11, 1998 with a very nice original box and BC and all other paper work. And since I am a user it has found a home. I will send pictures after I get my outdoor chores done, chickens, bees, garden and run the dog.

The anticipation is killing me. This is a true obsession. I am waiting for somebody else's (who lives 2,500 miles away from me) knife to be delivered. This is a wake up call.
As my wife keeps on telling me - Get a life.

Thanks for the update. Those are some good outdoor chores. Not every gets to do those kind of chores.

That Bill is one if the best looking users I've seen. Nice score brother...

I realize your long journey of discovery didn't end the way you (and I) had hoped.. and we may never know the rest of the story... but you have to admit that is a very interesting and might I say "Unique" looking Sebenza!! One can only speculate why the original owner of the knife went through the time and expense of having what at the time was just another Large Sebenza "customized" to the extent that he did. But it was obviously very well done! So congratulations on your "one off" Large Regular Sebenza!! And thank you for sharing it and it's story with the rest of us!!
All the best my friend,
Dave
