Who did it?

I realize your long journey of discovery didn't end the way you (and I) had hoped.. and we may never know the rest of the story... but you have to admit that is a very interesting and might I say "Unique" looking Sebenza!! One can only speculate why the original owner of the knife went through the time and expense of having what at the time was just another Large Sebenza "customized" to the extent that he did. But it was obviously very well done! So congratulations on your "one off" Large Regular Sebenza!! And thank you for sharing it and it's story with the rest of us!!
All the best my friend,
Dave

All very true Dave and thanks. Disapointed yes but up set not in any way. And I had not thought about when it was done and what the original owner when thru to get it the way it is. And from the looks of the scales he/she did use it but not abuse it. As with all older knives that have been used I am curious as to what and where they have been thru.
Thanks my friend,
Bill

Glad that I got to see your pics. Those grooves remind me of TAD folders. The serrations look absolutely wicked. Perhaps it's not original CRK, but for carry purposes, it's a lifer.
Very nice.

? 1 I am sure I am not thinking of something-Why couldn't it be reblasted.I thought that was done much like one would spray paint something. I would think there are pimpers out there that could do that for you if you wanted. I personally like the rub mark look.
?2 how hard is it to sharpen those serrations? or don't you find you need to
Thanks for the story. It's a very nice looking Knife.

The scales can be reblasted..it's not that big of a deal..I would do it for the price of shipping. I have access to garnet blasting media, which would texture it very nicely.

The fact of the matter is, it's a nice knife to me..Sure it's not a CRK original one off..As long as it's worth the price you payed for it, its a non-issue!
Personally speaking..this one, if mine, would get more pocket time than any of my other crk's. Why? Because it's value in the mods done were something important to the person that did the mods..not necessarily yourself or anyone else. My take on the value is more utilitarian. I would probably use it for things I would never think of for my other blades..Well..except those crkt's and misc other little pocket knives I have..that are disposable to me.

Use it..abuse it and like it!!
I sold a sebenza that I engraved the scales on several years ago. Right now...I kinda wish I had it back :(

Let me know if you are interested in my offer to blast the scales for you.

Well said bhyde. Nice of you to offer the blasting of the scales.

You are a gentleman to make that offer and I have seen your work first hand and would feel comfortable sending any knife to you to work on. I use the tool you made all the time on my Sebenza's. The more I play with the knife and look at it the more I am sure it will stay with me. I am going to put some more pictures of the knife. The inside of the scales are beautiful. Someone really took the time to do a good job. I am sure it was someone's baby and who am I to ruin that! I will not have it blasted. I am happy with the price I paid and that is all that matters as you said. Your comments and those of others have made me think of this knife in a whole different way. I got it and send it off right away expecting it to come back looking like a new Regular, if it had some history would have been lost. Things happen for a reason. How I would like to meet the person who had/did this work. Thanks bhyde and everyone who gave me their thoughts. And now some more pictures. (not as long as Dave's but long for me :-).

Well it seems it can be re-blasted if I wanted but changing my mind. And not sure about the sharpening as I have not used it much. My other serrated (done by CRK's) is easy to sharpen. Not much of an answer.

Wow!! someone went all out on this knife!! Absolutely amazing!! And by the way that is the first date code I have ever seen with a "D" prefix!! Awesome!! Thanks again Bill!!

You are welcome Dave. I think I got the one with the "D" as a hold over from my high school report card days. :-)

Bill-

Glad that I could help in some small way..You are welcome to call on me if you ever change your mind, although, I doubt you will. Glad you posted pics of the work you described..
They did take pride in their workmanship..that is a defining characteristic in its own right!

Bill (now I feel like I am talking to myself here)

Starting and ending with "Bill" does make you wonder. :-) The work on the inside does remind me of the jewel work on the locks of a fine side by side or O/U. You are right about the pride part.
I did email the seller and ask if he could give me any information on how he accuried it. We shall see. And many thanks again.

Bill

Bill, I think it's a great looking knife. I would be proud to own and carry it. As I've said before, I carry a serrated CRK every day.

Thanks Jerry, I do believe my Lg. Reg. BG-42 that I have been carrying will go back for spa treatment then in the safe. The Mystery knife will replace it as my large daily carry.
