Who does *not* watch t.v. ?

Has Australia produce any TV worth watching since "Prisoners of Cell Block H"?

:D

Well, neither has the US. Or Israel, or anywhere else. :thumbdn::thumbdn:

Once in awhile, they have a show that I like:
The Equalizer (off the air).

Babylon 5 (off the air).

I saw a show of Firefly when in the US--they don't get it over here.

My friends say I would like Deadwood --they don't get it over here.

They don't get 24.

Most of the football games involve teams I don't give a shit about.

When they do televise an important game over here, like last year's Super Bowl, the Patriots play like the field hockey team of Miss Gertrude's Finishing School for Young Girls, their QB gets sacked more than an entire compliment of Lehmann Brother's employees, and I end up staying up all night to watch a team win the Super Bowl whose star WR can't even handle a handgun without nearly shooting his own beitzim off.

So no, I don't ------- watch TV.

When I won my liberation from the first wife, I won liberation from tv as well. Everything was beautiful until wife unit 2 got us some satelite tv. Oh it started out as a gift from her mom...magically I ended up footing the bill.

I like the History Channel...yet find it odd when they have programs about aliens and bigfoot. Other channnels mean little to me and the whole thing seems like a waste. What is really annoying is many channels switch to infomercials late at night. I'm paying for it why is it infomercials for 6 hours straight? :grumpy:

I enjoy the vile childish program South Park. It is like Whine and Cheese. Vile and childish but has the freshest ridicule and commentary on people. When the internet went down was a classic...as was the spoof about Online Games such as WoW. Other than that other Science shows and stand up comics is the only things I find worth watching.

I don't ever structure my day around scheduled tv programs and rarely know when anything is scheduled to come on.

I like South Park too--we don't get it over here. :grumpy:

I also wonder why the history channel has this supernatural crap on.....

That really irritates the hell out of me, in fact it's the main reason I stopped watching it. They could, at the very least, have a Gullible Idiots channel where they run that junk and have actual history stuff on the History channel. Imagine that!

In most countries, they do. They call it Network News.:D

Never been that keen on it. Wife enjoys a good show that is rare in Botswana, if you want more you have to get a satellite tv link that I refuse. I have a deep love of books, making knives and I source information on the internet. News, BBC and several others have sites.

PS2 is the kids favourite followed by PC gaming, lego and reading.

For the most part the tv goes on @ once a week. Most of the shows are different angles of the same old thing with a bit less clothing. When they get naked, maybe?

As was mentioned by some one else i find that when i am somewhere that a T.V. is in operation that its more annoying to me now than it was when i did watch one.

When i did watch t.v i like some others found myself on discovery, history or espn< > ( looking for fishing shows) for the most part.

Sitcoms didnt interest me, in fact they P Oed me mostly w/those laugh tracks ( i,ll laff if i find it funny, i dont need prompted).

COMMERCIALS ......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr < nuff said

Radio (for music im not into talk radio) or my CD,s are being listened to most of the time when my wife and i are at home.

Out of curiousity what are you folks * PAYING* These days for
whatever supplies your programing? Cable, satelite etc

We quit watching TV in 99. We still have one that's hooked up to a VCR and DVD player for the occasional movie.

The rise of the reality and infotainment programs has been the major cause in the decrease of time I spend watching t.v. at present.

If I had fast broadband and a big download limit I'd be downloading the few decent science fiction, police drama and comedy shows currently being produced for viewing at the time that suited me, not that dictated by the Networks.

I don't own a TV and don't watch TV. That's the way it's been throughout my adult life. I'm not anti-television; I guess it's just never registered high on my list of priorities.

I enjoy TV, especially Discovery and National Geographic shows and various crime documentaries and police dramas. That said, since picking up a PVR last year and beginning to record shows, normal TV with commercials seem irritating and unwatchable now. After the past year's break from the rampant advertising it has become painfully obvious exactly how much time is lost watching that garbage when watching the average show.

I was brought up with out TV. My mother pulled the plug on ours in 1960 when I was 6 years old. I have three brothers and we were encouraged to not stay indoors . I do not regret not watching TV when i was growing up..
We did not have a tube for the first 20 years of our marriage until we got cable for the computer about eight years ago. Three years ago I unplugged the the TV I do not miss it.

I could live without it, and frequently do for much of the summer. We just have five or six channels of broadcast network TV, we did have cable for a year in the city, but when we moved back out to the country we didn't get cable, and have been just fine without it, although we probably will in February when everything goes digital.

My wife and I both grew up without TV for most of our childhoods, my family got a small B&W TV when I was 10, and my wife didn't have a TV in her house until she was 17 and moved away from home for college. We chose to live without TV (this before we had internet or cell phones too) for the first year we were married, move than 14 years ago, and it was a great decision, really helped our relationship get off on a strong footing.

I watch so much T.V. that I recognize the source of about one thread in ten whining about the crap on T.V.

I don't have cable, satellite or even an antenna at my house. I do have a VCR and DVD player hooked to the idiot box so I can blow the dust off and watch a movie now and then. Unfortunately my girlfriend is addicted to the tube. Hers died a week ago and it was like the end of the world had arrived. I gave her a new one for early Christmas just to protect my sanity. You know what they say: "If mama ain't happy, nobody is happy."

I watch very little television, but I'd rather have it than not.

Radio isn't an option where I live and the only thing I can seem to get is some horribly biased conservative talk crap that just pisses me off instantly, so I stay away from that. Which is unfortunate because I've always loved rolling through the AM dial just to see what's out there. It was a hobby of mine ten years ago in high school. But I live in a hole... absolutely no FM reception and only that one station on AM and even then it's not very good.

I need my TV for baseball and the occasional show on History or Military channel (I've gotta have my Braves and I'm a WW1 buff). But I haven't turned my TV on this week other than to play with the Wii.

For the most part my cat is all the mindless entertainment I need. Throw her a ball and she's at least fifteen minutes worth of good entertainment.

I do admit, I like Law & Order... can't help it.

If you have a broadband connection you can get radio on the net. Lots of broadcast stations all over the world and many more that are only on the net. Perfect reception and lots more choices.
