Who DOESN'T Own a Mora?

I don't own one and probably never will. Im sure they are nice knives but since Im not very skilled in bushcraft i would probably break a mora if I wasnt very careful.

Me.

Have never ordered one. Just like I have never ordered an Opinel. I keep meaning to, but my list is so long......So many things to get!

this classic dates back to the early '70's it came in a swedish medical bag.. I also own a 511 and 743 my son also has a 511..
maybe its me but it seems the older ones hold an edge better...

only one so far and i really like it. if the ergonomics isn't there to back it up then the knife is useless to me no matter how expensive the wood scales are or what supersteel it is made from. the only other knife i've found so far that bests the mora's handle ergonomics is the spyderco bushcraft...for 18x the price.

Point very well taken... They are to "throw away" to collect, just like a disposable flashlight, oh, wait, the batteries are dead, buy a new one!!!

Well bud, I didn't mean to diss the concept actually. I suppose you get what you pay for. The little red plastic jobbies that I got were only five bucks each in a hardware store. I got a half dozen or whatever because the wife was going camping with some girlfriends. It was a ladies camping weekend. So I drilled a hole in the handles and para corded them for neck hang, blade down with their plastic sheath on. The knives were forgotten about in haste and were just a side thought anyway. I used one of them for cutting sod while metal detecting for coins. And another sat and rusted under the passenger floor mat of the car as a fish gutter or whatever. The others I tossed in a tub and forgot about. I found that they rusted very easily, but to be fair I gave them no care\oiling. They were tough though and for the price, one or two tossed in a bag would be cheap and handy cutting insurance. Maybe I have an arrogance that if it isn't a hundred bucks and fancier steel, a knife is no good. Something for me to think about.

JV3; it's pretty stiff. Great camp knife. Ragnar's still has them available.

thanks! i always want to play with new knives and the becker bk-7 and esee-6 were going to be next in line but not anymore. i like the specs on this one better - it should be faster/lighter in the hand. funny, i started off buying $100+ choppers and found that $15 machetes out-chopped them anyday in any wood (in my area). then bought a gb axe but found that i prefer using a $16 saw from lowes hands down...looks like you just saved me more money :)

saw this on youtube...the beckerheads and rat packers are going to ban me from their sub-forums once i eventually get rid of all my beckers and esee's. oh boy.

i don't have one, handled one in a store, didn't 'cut' it for me at the time, so i passed.
will buy one someday though.

Amazing eh?, I had a similar experience. And machete weight is generally better in most cases.

ouch, you're buying the expensive ones :) I think my all time favorite thus far is the tramotina 14"bolo...
Jay what saw from lowes are you talking about??

now back to your regular programing...

count me in the group of folks that does NOT own a Mora. Used to, just to see what all the hype was about. Gave it away.

I used one scuba diving today to cut some rope from the propeller of a gillnet boat. I have about 5 on my lobster boat. I'll snap some pix of them next time I get a chance. They aren't pretty. :D
