Who EDCs a Buck 110?

I don't. I have three of them, but more or less have them in my collection as collectibles. They just aren't what I enjoy these days. Entirely too heavy, and as I work in an office environment, I won't wear one in a belt-sheath. Those are really the only reasons, honestly. I carried a 110 for awhile back in Boy Scouts before it was replaced by a Gerber Gator. These days, I just prefer different knives which are better in multiple areas. Better steel, better deployment methods, better carry method, and so on. The Buck 110 is still a great field knife, but as I've got plenty of other great knives for fieldwork (which probably accounts for 5% of my time spent a month), so my 110's just sit in my safe.

Who EDCs a Buck 110? How do you carry it? I'd like to see some pics of your American icon!

I got my first 110 in the mid 70s with saved up money from my paper route. Still carry it as my hunting knife but you should note that it rides in my pack, not in my pocket.

IME, the 110 and 112 are both too heavy and too WIDE for comfortable pocket carry. It terms of weight, they're brass bricks. In terms of width, my 110s and 112s all come in around 15.5 to 16mm wide. I can pocket carry a Case Large Sodbuster comfortably. It's about 14mm wide. But above that, I really notice the knife. I had an Ecolite 112 for a year or so and then passed it on. It just didn't carry well for me.

If you want a great EDC sized traditional lockback from Buck, I suggest you look at the Buck 500 Duke. Here's an old one.

If you want a traditional lockback that's thin enough to carry in your pocket and is beautiful, the way a lockback should be, then sadly you'll have to look to other manufacturers like perhaps GEC (the 42 Missouri Trader is worth a look).

I do hope Buck brings back the Ecolite and when they do, I hope they go whole-hog on making it as beautiful as the original 110 and 112. This was my other major beef with my Ecolite 112. IMO (emphasize, MY opinion) the finger grooves ruined the look of the knife, by making it feel like a deer in the headlight type of design? Did it want to be a traditional knife or a modern knife? The Ecolite 110/112 should be 100% traditional. The other issue was the partial metal liner. IMO, all it did was make the Ecolites look modern and cheap looking. And uncomfortable as the well was actually sharp on mine. IMO, that knife would have been stunning with a full traditional brass liner. And since we're dreaming, adding a brass lanyard hole like on the old Schrade 6OT would have been a nice touch.

But regardless... the budget oriented Ecolites are now collectible and fetching crazy dollars - way too much to justify for an EDC user, IMO.

IMO, if you love the look of the 110 or 112 and want to EDC it, you need to either step up to holster carry or sew your pockets for vertical carry (like this).

(That's a Schrade 51OT and it makes the Buck 110 seem like a toy.)

Ouch! Bucklite Max a better choice.

Only in regards to price - but then yes, most certainly.

Eflay got me a used one for next to nothing.

Build quality is nothing to write home about i.e. flimsy next to my ooold 110.

Perfectly useable though.

I do, belt carry. If not my 110, then a Schrade Old Timer 7OT, also belt carry.
A Buck 301 or 371 stockman, a canoe, and a scout/camp knife ride in my pockets.

I'll never get rid of my 110. Feels to good in hand and is very solid. Classic blade, too. I still carry it some, mostly cased on my belt when I do. Great knife. Just not as fast or light as some of the modern ones.

I carry mine frequently (it's a part of a large rotation) in Buck's leather belt pouch. My most treasured knife.

Amazing. I logged on to ask this exact question, but someone beat me to it. Loving the feedback and photos so far. The 110 really is a badass.

A classy badass that is..

I do on weekends or when I'm off work and wearing my jeans and a rigger's belt. The 110 rides on my right hip in its nylon holster. I work in an office environment and have to wear nice pants, so my daily Buck is a 310.

I do on the weekends, belt carry in the sheath it came with, no issue with the weight. Smaller Buck in my pants pocket during the week due to office environment which I am caged in now.

I dont own a 110 but carries a 112 exclusively for about a year in the belt sheath that comes with the knife

From 1982 to the mid 90's when I discovered Spyderco. I love my 110 but "once you seen paree".

had not carried a Buck 110 for some time, but this past summer, I discovered the Buck custom shop. Now every so often, I carry this one with a S30V blade

I carried a Schrade 250T (two blade similar to 110) for years when in rural areas; working, hunting & hiking. Never EDC'd this knife and I have never specifically carried a Buck 110 even though I own two.

Although I don't EDC a buck 110, some of my fondest memories of my youth revolve around this knife. In 1979, my favorite uncle who was working with department of education, took a part time job working in one his buddie's horse boarding stables. In return, my uncle would board his horses in the complex for free. I was twelve and my uncle hired me as his "assistant", and for my first payday I was compensated with a buck 110 just like his. I was so static I didn't care that I wasn't paid in dollars! That meant that now I could leave my Camillus official boy scouts knife at home and join the rest of the cowboys with my 110 in a leather pouch riding on my belt. I used that knife for EVERYTHING! Working at those stables was my first real taste of what a utility knife was really about. Cutting haybale string, opening feed sacks, cutting ropes, modifying harness and saddle straps, whittling a field expedient hoof pick, cutting meat during a festive pig picking, peeling an abundance of tropical fruits that surrounded the property, etc. The only other knife I've owned that matches or surpasses the utility usage of that 110 was my Kabar USMC that carried during my enlistment as a US Paratrooper (Infantryman) 6 years later. I. Left that 110 back home when I shipped out to basic training, and never saw it again. I received a 110 as a Christmas gift from my son about 4 years ago, but I have it as a keepsake. You guys have no clue as to the flood of memories that flashedbacked through my head when I opened the gift and saw the 110. As I write this, a strange tingle accompanied by a little voice inside my head is telling me that perhaps I should start wearing the 110 again, even if just occasionally.

Great story, h minus!

I keep a Cabela's Alaskan Guide 110 in S30V in it's original sheath for weekend carry, on occasion. Currently it is in my car with my BOB, in a tactical sheath that I can grab and throw on my belt at any time, if needed. Before work started stressing their 2.5" blade limit, the 110 would make it into my EDC rotation fairly often. It's just a beautiful knife with the black coating on the blade, and the dark cherry and brass handles.

Don't every day carry but do carry one of my 110's once or twice a week with black leather sheath. Still love the knife and history. Right now am carrying my 110 and a Queen micarta sodbuster in D2.

When not carrying the 110 will carry one of my various Spyderco's.

You can put a pocket clip on it, google "buck 110 pocket clip" to look at some pictures.
