Who else buys doubles of their favorite knives?

I have 2 Kopas, 2 Kiwis (lockback), 2 Michael Walker's, and 2 Chaparrals - all Spydercos.
I carry the Walker and Chaparral. The others are in the draw. It does seem silly, but then there
are collectors like the Deacon. He has much more than 2X everything.

I double up on users, that way i have a fresh one if i need it. I was afraid to really put my zt 301 through the paces till i bought another. $225 was a small price to pay for a clean conscience.

I doubled up my EDC the limited edition folding Buck Kalinga since they don't make it anymore with rosewood scales. I keep one down with relatives that I frequently fly back and forth too. Less chance of loss while in baggage. I also keep a 3rd one for just incase of a loss and for collector value.

I have 3 of my EDC. Both extras are against loss prevention, blade wearing too thin etc. I'm already using #2 for non-working carry because my EDC has been sharpened a lot and shows some nicks and blade size loss. How's that for OCD?

That's my only duplication of a knife since my Sebenzas were sold off. :D

This guy. I usually only buy a second of a given model if they go out of production or come out with a limited edition. That way I can use and abuse the hell out of one and still have one at home in case something happens to the user.

At times I've ended up buying the same knife over and over, selling it off, trading for another one, whatever... I've owned three USMC Kabars but have sold them all - my Mk. 1 is the only Kabar I still have. I've bought three Kershaw Cyclones but sold one off. I guess my personal record is that I've bought four Spyderco Manix 2's - one standard model, two orange sprint runs, and one ctsbd30p.

As it stands I have two Cyclones, two RAMs, two Victorinox Pioneers (okay, one's a Soldier but they're basically the same knife...the Soldier stays in the box), two Orange Manix 2's, and one CTSBD30P Manix 2.

Just my Victorinox Classics (I own two and just ordered a lot of five ... may get more). And I have two Delicas and two Enduras, but they are different colors.

for the FIRST time, I got myself two Spyderco Yojimbo 2s...I am just so in love with those that I wanted to have a spare one...that's it...

Depends on the deal I find... if it's a steal, I will snap up 2 of the same knife; never know when the wilderness will pick your pocket.

Unfortunately for my budget, yes. I happen to want the entire offering of Kershaw Blurs and if I track down any really hard to find versions (sometimes not so hard to find versions out of habit I guess), I usually buy a couple. Two orange, two anniversary, two OLBLK, two silver twill, two red serrated, two SG2, etc. This also applies to knives that I get great deals on through websites or on the forums here and can consider users with backup. Two blue Manix2 FRNs, two SOG Vulcan tantos, two ZT 0350s, you get the point. I could go on, but I won't.

tl;dr - Yes, I do.

I'm planning on grabbing a backup sage 2 pretty soon. Its just about the perfect all around folder for me.

if i love something i buy it in triplicate, one to collect and one to use and a third for when i break the user

Are you distinguishing between doubles vs. multiple variations?

In terms of identical doubles, I have three pairs: Benchmade AFCK 806D2, Benchmade Pinnacle 750 and Spyderco Paramilitary 2 (both S90V sprint run and regular S30V production blades). I also have several of the variants of Para 2 (digicam, DLC) and a whole slew of Manix 2's, although none are identical. The Brown M4 is missing from this photo:

Hey, if this is open to multiples of the same knife including variants, then I definitely do that...just look at the picture in my sig :D

Not for me. But my son had knives on his Christmas list and when I found one I thought he'd like I decided it was pretty cool and ordered one for me too. Sorry I can't tell you guys what it was because he is all over this forum and might see the post and spoil the surprise!

Regards

Steve

I kinda do ..

When I find a knife that is seriously good , I buy several , and hand them around to my friends ...

Its actually contagious behaviour , several of them have started doing the same thing

I have multiples of several knives - mostly different scales. This includes Buck 110's, Case Seahorse Whittlers, and Victorinox Farmer SAKs. Some were/are great EDC examples: Benchmade 630 Skirmish, Spyderco Native S30V, and Zero Tolerance 0551. One each of my real expensive knives, like CRK Sebbie & 'zaan, however. No more Case knives, either, although some more Boker Tree Brand 'classics' are possible.
